Greene County Comes Together! | |
The outpouring of goodwill toward the victims of the April 27 tornadoes in our community has been extraordinary- from both local residents and groups/individuals across the region and state. After notifying our members of the appropriate contact numbers, we have received num erous emails concerning their efforts on behalf of these victims. We are very proud of our "unsung heroes" that are such outstanding corporate citizens who have not hesitated to give back to this community. Although there are undoubtedly numerous other Partnership members who have volunteered in some way, we feel it is very important that those who have responded to us be announced to stand as examples to all in these trying times.
*John Deere Power Products is contributing $250,000 in grant monies to the tornado victims across the state of Tennessee and,
in addition, has agreed to match all employee contributions up to a maximum of $250,000. As of April 29, they had sent approximately 100 employees from their production lines to provide cleanup assistance, and had provided John Deere equipment and generators for those with medical needs, as well as food and supplies.
*McDonald's has provided thousands of sausage biscuits, hamburgers and fruit pies.
*DTR and Professional Vending provided 1,200 hot dogs and 1,200 hamburgers. DTR also gave 1,500 cardboard boxes to be used by the families affected by the storms.
*Greeneville Realtor Brokers Council made a contribution of $2,050.
*Angus-Palm made a contribution of $1,500.
*Life Care Center of Greeneville has provided trash bags, food containers and paper supplies.
*Construction Art has allocated resources for tree cutting.
*Nolichucky View Golf Club is planning a day of golf Sunday, May 15, at the course where ALL greens fees and cart fees collected will be donated to the victims of the storms.
* Hemlock Hollow Inn is hosting a fundraiser for the Camp Creek tornado victims June 4 from 1 to 8 p.m., featuring a barbecue dinner, music, cake walks, a silent auction, a treasure hunt, storytelling, etc.
There are many others who we have all heard and read about like the Emergency Management staff, the American Red Cross, law enforcement and emergency medical staffs, the Greeneville Light & Power crews, Free Will Baptist Family Ministries, churches and non-profit organizations across the community that have served as collection points, just to name a few. Everyone should take great pride in being a Greene Countian!!!!!!
