Greetings!

I usually work a lot of hours on my computer, so it is a refreshing change for me to do stop-motion animation and to work with actual objects and my hands. I love to animate with as many different styles and materials to keep things creative and fun.
The animations come from a place of childlike playfulness, rather than the aim for perfectionism. I always have to remind myself not gloss it over with a lens flare or particle FX but to keep things raw. My wonderful artist friend Inga Guzyte used to assist me.  As she will be leaving now to live in a fancy part of Europe (where they grow the finest chocolates), I need to find another fancy collaborator/assistant. Ciao Inga, you will be missed.
Here is our short demo reel, enjoy!

I am teaching creative classes for kids and teens, so it comes as a shock to me that art is decimated by budget cuts.

GOOD magazine: In a survey conducted by IBM last year, 1,500 CEOs identified creativity as the number one competitive edge" of the future. And Secretary of Education Arne Duncan recently wrote that dance, music, theater, and visual arts "are essential to preparing our nation's young people for a global economy fueled by innovation and creativity."

Yet despite the need for employees and entrepreneurs with well-developed right-brain "soft skills" and the wealth of research indicating that students at schools with robust arts programs are more likely to go to college, school art programs nationwide are being decimated by budget cuts. In Los Angeles, elementary school art programs may soon disappear altogether. The result is that students are missing out on the opportunity to, in Duncan's words, "experience the arts in deep and meaningful ways and to make curricular connections with math, science, and the humanities."  ...more

Mission: Vivakids is part of Viva Design studios, a lab and think tank where designers, artists and kids work together in multiple ways to express creativity.  We stimulate divergent thinking by using one topic at a time (for example the Alphabet) and generate many different ideas about the topic.
Kids learn the use of stopmotion animation as creative tool and an excellent exercise in persistence and staying in the moment.
Vivakids' DVDs and ipad apps are must-have learning tools for your thriving child today.
