On-line Scheduling
The biggest compliment we receive consistently is how easy and convenient our scheduling program is online.

You have full control over your scheduled appointments and can cancel them**, re-schedule them or book multiple appointments at your favorite day and time of the week.

Remember that you must sign into your account by either going to our website and clicking on your therapist's name or log-in at therapyappointment.com.

**NOTE: You cannot cancel an appointment online if it is within 24 hours of the appointment. Everyone agrees to the late cancellation/no show fee at the beginning of therapy.

Support the Fight
Arizona Family Therapy and Wellness does not endorse any one group in the fight against breast cancer but here are a few links of worthy causes in the fight. Do what you can, be aware, and no matter how small, show your support for the fight this month!

Greetings!

Think Pink Thank you for your trust once again and as we head into the Fall, Arizona Family Therapy and Wellness Center would like you to join us in the support for a cure for breast cancer.

Many of us have been touched by a family member, loved one, or friend who has been devastated or taken from us by this enemy. It is always on my mind having both my mother and sister effected by breast cancer. My mother passed away in 2005 and my sister is a survivor today.

However you support the cause this month, we would like you to share it with us on Facebook. Tell us your story and we will join with you in positive energy and prayer for the cure that is just beyond our reach.

Sincerely,

Cancer treatments may end, but the process of healing continues
survivor

by Dana Carman, CTW Features

It's easy to assume that when cancer treatment ends for those who have had to endure it, the reaction immediately following the last treatment would be immense relief. After all, to those of us who have watched someone we love experience cancer, it's a big relief when it's "over."

The reality, however, is different. For cancer patients, it's not over and, according to Dr. Lynne Wagner, director of the supportive oncology program at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, finishing treatment can be a relief tempered with anxiety but it can also cause some patients to be depressed. "It's somewhat individual, from a research perspective," Dr. Wagner says.

Why Couples Counseling?
Why Not? Most people are unhappy in their relationship for about 6 years before they seek help according to Dr. John Gottman. By then, in my experience, it is often too late. I have said before that people do not separate or divorce because of "LOVE" or a lack of it, the end the relationship but they are not happy and have not been happy for a long time.

The Mayo Clinic staff writes, "Marriage counseling can help couples in all types of intimate relationships - heterosexual or homosexual, married or not.

Some couples seek marriage counseling to strengthen their bonds and gain a better understanding of each other. Marriage counseling can also help couples who plan to get married. This pre-marriage counseling can help couples achieve a deeper understanding of each other and iron out differences before marriage.

In other cases, couples seek marriage counseling to improve a troubled relationship. You can use marriage counseling to address many specific issues, including:

  • Communication problems
  • Sexual difficulties
  • Conflicts about child rearing or blended families
  • Substance abuse
  • Financial problems
  • Anger
  • Infidelity
  • Divorce
The average cost of divorce in the United States is $15,000.* The average cost of couples counseling is around $1200.**  I did not do well in school with math but it seems to me that the cost alone is worth trying to save the relationship, not to mention other factors such as custody and child adjustments to a broken home.

Don't wait until the vase of your relationship is in a 1,000 pieces to take action! Things usually do not get better on their own without help. Click the link below and you can set an appointment this week.
