Dear Lakeview Families,

I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many Lakeview students, families and staff who took the time to recognize me on Principal Appreciation Day on Tuesday, May 1st. I was deeply touched by the kindness and generosities shared and want you to know how much these gestures meant to me.

We are coming upon a very special week next week as we have the opportunity to honor our wonderful teaching staff.   I want to invite everyone in the Lakeview community to celebrate TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK May 7th through the 11th. This is an opportunity to show our wonderful teaching staff your appreciation for their care and support of your child's education. Ideas to consider are a simple note of gratitude from your child as these thoughtful words means so much to those who spend time each day helping to nurture your child's educational experience. Other ideas to consider are a flower, picture from the student, or an item from the Lakeview Staff Favorite List (posted in a notebook in Lakeview's Main Office for your review).

STUDENT ATTENDANCE-As we move into MSP, it is critical to remind all Lakeview families of the importance of making sure that your students arrive at school ON TIME, Every Day! The first attendance bell rings at 8:55 AM and students are marked late at 9:00 AM. In addition, if your child is late, please walk them into the office to receive their Late Slip. This is a helpful process so we can know exactly why the student is late in order to problem solve the situation. Should you have any questions about the responsibilities of parents around attendance in schools in the state of Washington, you can contact Lakeview's BECCA Officer, Mary Jo Bogden at Mbogden@lwsd.org.

FEEDBACK ON OUR SCHOOL-WIDE DISCIPLINE PLAN-Believe it or not, we are already beginning our planning for next year. As such, we are very focused on collaboratively developing a school that is safe (emotionally and physically) for all students. In an effort to hear the voice of our families in regard to our student expectations school-wide (Work Hard, Be Kind, Be Safe), we are asking for your feedback on our School-Wide Discipline Plan.

Parent feedback will be considered along with that of the staff in reviewing our current plan. We would greatly appreciate you taking a few moments to reflect on the questions below and providing us with your feedback for our future planning purposes. Please return this form to the Main Office at Lakeview by the end of the day on Tuesday, May 8th.

FEEDBACK ON LAKEVIEW SCHOOL-WIDE DISCIPLINE PLAN-

  •  What do you believe is working well in our school-wide plan (common expectations for all students regarding respect, positive reinforcement through the use of Bucket Drops, Paw Prints and compliments, as well as FYI's and Communication Slips as a means to involve parents by keeping them informed and supporting their child through their partnership with the school)?

  • What are your thoughts on which aspects could be improved in our school-wide discipline plan?

  •  What suggestions would you offer to improve the area(s) you have identified?
