GiveBIG to LWSF
The Seattle Foundation's GiveBIG will be held on Wednesday, 5/2. This is a one-day, online charitable giving event to inspire people to give generously to nonprofit organizations. LWSF is one of the nonprofits who will receive a pro-rated portion of the matching funds (or "stretch") pool. The amount of the "stretch" depends on the size of the stretch pool and how much is raised in total donations on GiveBIG day. For example, if a nonprofit organization receives 3 percent of the total donations during GiveBIG, then it will receive 3 percent of the stretch pool. For more information go to http://www.seattlefoundation.org/GivingCenter/GiveBIG/Pages/Default.aspx.  Please consider marking your calendars on Wednesday, 5/2 and give to the Lake Washington Schools Foundation.

Opportunity To Show Gratitude

Teacher Appreciation Week begins Monday, 5/7. Contact your parent classroom representative and ask how you can help make this a special week for your student's teacher. Or assist your child in a gesture or expression of thanks. Let's let the Lakeview teachers know how grateful we are for everything they do!

Happening Now: Lakeview Marathon

The 6th Annual Lakeview Marathon is underway. This all school, all grade level fitness activity challenges students to complete 26.2 miles (the distance of a marathon) jogging and or walking around our playfield during their lunch recess during the months of April, May, and June. Parents and community members will record laps on a classroom chart, move runners on the bulletin board, and distribute beads earned once each week for their child's class. Thank you Marathon Room Parent Volunteers!

Please encourage your child to participate in this recess activity. Help them plan to wear shoes for running/walking and comfortable clothing on running days. Email Mrs. Knight if you have any questions at NKnight@lwsd.org.

Annual LWSF Luncheon On Wednesday, 5/23
The Lake Washington Schools Foundation supports the Lake Washington School District by raising funds for programs that inspire learning, help at-risk students, and improve academic performance. Lakeview has been a recipient of funds from LWSF for several years now. Last year we received funds for our very successful Explorations in Math after-school program, which took place during the fall and winter of this school year. The foundation's major fundraiser is a luncheon which will be held on Wednesday, 5/23 from 11:30am to 12:45pm at the newly renovated Lake Washington High School. Please consider joining our Lakeview table. If you are interested in attending the luncheon, please contact Sonia Savelli (lakptsaadvocacy@gmail.com). For more information, to register for the luncheon, or to donate go to http://lwsf.org/events.html.

Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast
Mark your calendars! The Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast will be held on Wednesday, 5/30 from 8-9am in the Lakeview cafeteria. This is a chance to thank all of the wonderful volunteers who participate in making Lakeview so great.
