Classified Staff Appreciation Week
At Lakeview, we are very fortunate to have such an outstanding group of Classified Staff members who help make our students' school experience so successful! We will be honoring these wonderful staff next week during Classified Staff Appreciation Week beginning Monday, 3/12. These staff members are:

Please join us in celebrating the many contributions of these excellent staff members next week. If you have a moment to jot a note of thanks, send a sweet treat, draw a picture, bring a  flower from your garden, etc. to share your thanks to these members of our staff. We also have a notebook in the office containing a list of each of these staff members' "FAVORITE THINGS" should you want to give them a gift that is indivudal to their interests. I know the gesture would be greatly appreciated!

2011-2012 Yearbook- No Fall Orders
If you believe that you pre-ordered a yearbook this past Fall, you did not. PTSA did not offer pre-orders in the First Day Packets this school year.

Order the Lakeview Elementary 2011-2012 Yearbook for just $16! Orders are due by Friday, 3/23. Please make checks payable to Lakeview PTSA. Order envelopes are available in the racks outside the lobby or you may download a form from the Lakeview website. (http://www.lwsd.org/school/lakeview/Documents/20112012yearbookorder.pdf) Send downloaded forms in an envelope to PTSA: Yearbook; or you may staple your check to the form.

A limited quantity of yearbooks will be available for purchase in June for $20 each. 

Skate King Night
Come and join the fun on Thursday, 3/22 from 6-8pm at Skate King in Bellevue. The $8 cost includes entry fee and roller skate rental (additional $4 for roller blade rentals).
This fundraiser is to support OPI Outdoor camp for 6th graders. Parent guardian and permission slip is required and will be sent home with your child closer to the event. Guardian must accompany the child during the entire event. Payment for entry must be made when you arrive at Skate King. No pre-payment accepted. Protective gear is recommended. Skate King has helmets, wrist guards, and knee pads available for rent. You may bring your own.  

  

Calling All Shutter Bugs!  
Did you take some great photos during the Carnival? Or maybe Dance Night or a school assembly or two? We are looking for photos to include in the yearbook taken during any Lakeview Special Event (2011-2012 school year only). Please email fiveftjen@gmail.com if you can help us out!  

 

Lakeview's 6th Annual Science Fair: Thursday, 4/19
Calling all young scientists! Are your students working on a cool experiment or invention this year? Share that work with other students at the science fair on Thursday, 4/19. Participants will be entered into a raffle to win some great prizes! For more information, please visit the Science Fair page on the Lakeview website. The Art Of Discovery Exhibit
The Junior Art League of Seattle will be sharing various works of art with the students of Lakeview beginning Monday, 3/12 thru Thursday, 3/22. The Art of Discovery Exhibit will be located in the library. Students will have an opportunity to view and learn about the artwork during their scheduled library time.

LW Schools Foundation Information  
The Lake Washington Schools Foundation raises funds to support academic excellence and success for all students in the Lake Washington School District. Funding is focused on bringing innovation to schools and classrooms so that students can acquire future-ready skills; to support excellence in teaching and leadership; and to provide equal access to educational opportunities to students across the whole district. Their programs touch every student in the Lake Washington School District, including ours. This year alone they funded our Explorations in Math and our Reading Renegades programs. The Foundation's major fundraiser is a luncheon on Wednesday, 5/23. This year it will be held at the newly renovated Lake Washington High School. Mark your calendar and stay tuned for more information!

LWSD Community Bulletin Board
Did you know that the LWSD website has a Community Bulletin Board? Many nonprofit, charitable organizations provide important opportunities for district students to learn and grow through events, classes and other programs.
