Ride The Bus To Focus Day Monday, 2/20
Join parents and kids for Focus Day as they march and rally on the Capitol steps. PTA volunteer advocates can make a difference when they come to the Capitol in large numbers. It's a great chance to support education while teaching your children about the political process in Washington state. Check out the fun activities for parents and kids at: http://www.wastatepta.org/meetings/focus_day/Focus_Day_Agenda_12.pdf.
Don't want to drive to Olympia? Ride the bus(ses)! They will depart from the parking lot of the Cost Plus World Market and Bartells in Redmond (Across the street from Bed Bath and Beyond) at 7:30am sharp Monday, 2/20. There is no cost to you to ride, but you must reserve a spot by e-mailing advocacy@lwptsa.net. LWSD PTSA Council is paying for the bus, so please don't reserve a spot unless you mean to show up. No-shows will make it very difficult to justify the expense of the busses in the future. Busses will depart from the Urban Onion in Olympia at 2:30pm. (Urban Onion Restaurant-Olympian Hotel, 116 Legion Way Southeast Olympia, Washington 98501) and be back in Redmond by 4:00pm.
Please dress for cold weather as busses will go rain, snow or shine. Bring your kids. Bring water. Bring snacks. Bring a sense of urgency for our kids futures and all of the kids in our state. To support our advocacy and as a show of solidarity and increase the political clout of PTA and the legislators who vote with us, please consider buying a scarf at http://store.wastatepta.org/WSPTA-Apparel-and-Bags-c15/.
NOTE: You must register for focus day at http://focusday2012.eventbrite.com/ so that the state PTA knows how many people to expect. You can also purchase lunches from this site that will be available for pick up at the Urban Onion. If you want time with our legislators in person, please email advocacy@lwptsa.net ASAP so that they can get it on their schedules. It's a busy day for them as well.
