Congratulations Mrs. Knight
Lakeview's P.E. teacher, Mrs. Knight, recently achieved National Board Certification®, as announced by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. From an LWSD press release: "Teachers earn this credential through a rigorous assessment that generally takes a year or more to complete." Furthermore, "it is considered the highest professional certification a teacher can obtain." Mrs. Knight is one of 36 LWSD teachers to achieve NBPT this year, bringing the Lake Washington's School District total number of NBCT teachers to 197. "That puts Lake Washington at number 17 on the national list of top 20 districts by number of new NBCTs in 2011". Proposal To Reduce School Days

The Washington State PTA is very concerned about the governor's proposal that all Washington State K-12 public schools cut four school days from our current school calendar. If you would like more information or you would like to contact your legislators about this or any other education issue, you can click on the TAKE ACTION link from their advocacy page at www.wastatepts.org/advocacy.

Each of Washington's 49 districts has one Senator and two representatives. Lakeview Elementary is in the 48th Legislative District.  Our Senator is Rodney Tom (tom.rodney@leg.wa.gov) and our two Representatives are: Ross Hunter (hunter.ross@leg.wa.gov) and Deborah Eddy (eddy.deborah@leg.wa.gov).

Students Late For Learning

Each day between 5 to 15 students are tardy. In many of these cases, students are only 1 to 5 minutes late. Parents: please help your student(s) arrive to school on time so that they are in class as soon as learning begins each and every day!
