Lakeview PTSA Membership Award

The Washington State PTA and the Lake Washington PTSA Council recognize Lakeview Elementary PTSA for enrolling 50% over the previous year's membership. By meeting this requirement, our PTSA received the Bronze Level Membership Award. Thank you for your continued support!

Destination ImagiNation (DI) News

We have the opportunity to have two Lakeview DI teams this year. The first team, Rising Stars, is for K-2nd graders. The second team is an elementary level for 3rd-5th graders. Both teams need a parent volunteer to be the co-team manager. Each team needs an additional parent volunteer to help out. If we don't have parent volunteers to fill these roles, we can not have teams participate this year! Training for new team managers is available. If your child is interested in joining either team or if you are interested in guiding either team, please contact Chitra at chitrasa@hotmail.com. For more info, visit www.idodi.org or www.seattle-metro-DI.org.

After School Science Class

The Pacific Science Center presents a science program entitled "Closer Look". Study the small to the invisible, master microscopes and then delve even deeper into unseen DNA and antibodies. Investigate organisms from the inside out - from pumping air into a pig's lung to probing the indigestible remains of an owl's lunch! The six session program for 3rd-6th graders begins Monday, 11/7 thru Monday, 12/12. The cost is $112 for PTSA members and $117 non-members. If you are interested in registering your student, please contact Karee Oliver at KareeOliver@gmail.com.

Winter Wishes Is Coming Soon!

This is an opportunity to give to those in need in our community during the holiday season. Gift tags labeled with a gift "wish" will be available beginning Friday, 11/18 both at school and at Family Dance Night that evening. Purchase the gift and return it unwrapped to school. We will wrap and deliver it. So easy! For more information contact Dana Laursen at dana.laursen@earthlink.net.

Thank You

Spirit wear was distributed this week. Thank you to Lisa Brown, Stacee Hunt and Malia Karlinsky for helping sort and distribute Lakeview apparel.

Lakeview Office Manager

Please welcome Amanda "Mandi" McChesney to the Lakeview family. Mandi joins us after serving in various roles in the district: PTSA Treasurer and President at Franklin Elementary, LWSD office substitue and, most recently, a Para-educator at Alcott Elementary. She will begin full time at Lakeview Monday, 11/14. Welcome Mandi!

Yearbook Volunteer Needed

The Lakeview PTSA is looking for a volunteer(s) to coordinate production of the school yearbook. Tasks include gathering photos from classroom photographers, laying out collage pages, coordinating production with the yearbook company, and design and distribution of an order form. Most of the work begins in February. Hours dependent on numbers of photos/classes. Majority of work takes place over span of two months. Please contact Kristi Caggiano.

Bring Back The Passport Club

If you're passionate about our children learning more about geography, please consider being our lead for bringing Passport Club back to Lakeview next year! Contact Emily Staples  for more information.

LWPTSA Basket Auction

Each year, the LWPTA Council offers more than $12,000 in scholarships to high school seniors and teachers within the school district. Besides the $100 donations made by each local unit, the annual basket auction is the only fundraiser we have to generate the remaining scholarship funds.

Beginning in November, baskets will be on display in the lobby of the LWSD Resource Center. Silent auction bidding begins Thursday, 11/3 and will be open for the entire month. The final auction bidding will take place after the December council meeting on Thursday, 12/1 at 10:00am.
