Lakeview Student Directory 2011-2012
Work has already started on this year's Student Directory. The information included is taken from the PTSA Student and Family Form that you received in your First Day Packets back in September. If you did not turn in this form, your student will not be listed in this vital school and parent resource. You do not need to be a PTSA Member to be listed in the Directory. Members receive one free Directory. Non-members may purchase Directories for $10 each later in the fall. Room and Party Parents also use this contact information to keep parents informed on classroom party preparations. Download a form today and send it in with your student addressed to Lakeview PTSA: Directory Information. Thank you! |

Halloween At Lakeview
This Halloween classrooms may hold a Halloween Party as one of their three yearly parties. However students are not allowed to come to school dressed up for the holiday or dress up during the day, in accordance with the policy in past years. All students are expected to abide by the school Dress Code in their school attire on Halloween Monday, 10/ 31. In addition, we ask that parents limit the amount of candy that students bring to school following Halloween. If students bring candy, it should be for that student only. Please do not send candy with your student to share with classmates.

Lakeview Safety Week: 10/1 to 11/4
Lakeview Parents: we need your help to provide a safe environment for all Lakeview students! The Lakeview Safety Committee has designated the week of October 31-November 4th as LAKEVIEW SAFETY WEEK. During this time we would like to have as many volunteers as possible help us cover the areas directly outside school (the upper and lower parking lots). These volunteers, along with members of the Lakeview Safety Committee and Principal Rothaus, will be a visible presence in throughout campus. Training will be provided to ensure we provide a clear message to our parents and reminding them about the following areas:
~Load and unload in the drop-off/pick-up zone only
~Drive slow and safe
~Students enter/exit car on curbside only
~If parents need to help students out of car, they must park
~Patrol and volunteers may open car doors
~Students must wait on the raised wall (State Street Loop)
~Walk through parking lot using the patrolled crosswalks
~Students wait at the flag pole until 8:45am
If you are interested in helping, please contact our Principal, Shawna Rothaus, at srothaus@lwsd.org or her phone at 425-936-2600. We'd love to have a strong show of Lakeview parent support for this important week!

Message From PTSA President
Dear Leopard Families and Friends,
Many thanks to all of you who have joined the PTSA so far this year. We currently have around 70% participation and would love to go higher - some schools in our district reach 100%! Each PTSA member has a voice in showing our elected officials how much our community supports a strong education and a solid partnership between our teachers and students. We also encourage other members of our community to join - friends and family are welcome! It's easy, and membership information is on our website.
The PTSA helps with many activities at Lakeview, including:
Walk to School Week - Thank you to all the students who participated in Walk to School week (10/ 3-10/7), and to the many volunteers who organized and helped it run smoothly, especially our PTSA Special Events Chair, Megan Gardner. Congratulations to Mr. Coulter's class for highest participation, winning an ice cream party for the class.
Enrichment Classes - Thank you to Karee Oliver, our PTSA Enrichment Chair, for providing our students with a great variety of enrichment activities. These enrichment opportunities set Lakeview apart - not many schools offer the variety found at Lakeview. More information can be found on the Lakeview website.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the PTSA, or would like more information.
Thank you,
Marypat Meuli, Lakeview PTSA President

LWPTSA Basket Auction
Each year, the LWPTA Council offers more than $12,000 in scholarships to high school seniors and teachers within the school district. Besides the $100 donations made by each local unit, the annual basket auction is the only fundraiser we have to generate the remaining scholarship funds.
Beginning in November, the baskets will be on display in the lobby of the LWSD Resource Center. Silent auction bidding begins Thursday, 11/3 and will be open for the entire month. The final auction bidding will take place after the December council meeting on Thursday, 12/1 at 10:00am. |
