Spring Lawn Care:
Here are a few quick and easy items to go through when beginning work on your yard in order to keep it lush and healthy:
For southern grasses including: St. Augustine, Bermuda, and Zoysia
Make sure to fertilize with now being a perfect time - Late February-Early March - apply a simple 15-5-10 for an early green-up.
You can go ahead and begin a weed-and-feed treatment, however, spot weed-and-feed treatments are recommended for those with turf-only landscapes or landscapes that have been established for many years.
Warning: Most weed-and-feeds contain Atrizine which burns roots of young trees and shrubs.
Late March-Early April - apply slow-release 3-1-2 ratio fertilizers.
Recommended formulations:
19-4-10 Nitro-Phos Super Turf (Which we happen to have on sale with a coupon in this newsletter!)
Late June-Early July - apply slow-release 3-1-2 ratio fertilizers.
(Recommended formulations 19-5-9, 19-4-10, 18-4-6, 15-5-10.)
Should your lawn already be showing signs of Brown Patch, Take-All patch etc., we have another wonderful product we highly recommend that is Organic called Actino-Iron made by a Houston based company, Natural Industries.
One thing to take note of is the best way to keep weeds out of your lawn and to prevent patchiness is a healthy lawn. The healthier the lawn, the more natural ability it has to prevent these things from taking over.
