Through numerous expansions the Lake Charles complex has grown into the largest production facility of PPG's 150 worldwide production complexes. The Lake Charles facility now compliments its chlorine and caustic production with derivatives and silica pigments. These basic and intermediate chemicals are key components in many consumer and industrial uses such as detergents and bleaches, refrigeration, swimming pool treatment, high quality battery separators, and a wide range of plastic items such as toys, toothbrushes, and plastic wrap. For example, chlorine is found as a basic chemical in over 85% of all pharmaceutical production.

To accomplish its mission of providing an environmentally friendly, safe and productive work environment, PPG currently employs 1300 fulltime employees and 250 contractors. The Lake Charles facility currently provides the Lake Charles Community with an annual total economic impact of around $650 million. Based on the successes of the past, PPG - Lake Charles is excited about the possibilities of the future and is proud to call the Lake Area its home.
