Stewardship of the Body Faithful stewards recognize that all the good things we enjoy in life are gifts from God. Stewardship reminds us that we are called to receive, nurture and share our material possessions, abilities and talents, friends, family, faith and even our physical bodies. This Lent, as we enter into a time of spiritual renewal, you are invited to explore a Christian spirituality of the body and renew your commitment to nurture your physical health on Thursday evenings, 5:30-6:30pm, beginning March 10 until April 14. A sign-up sheet is located near the church office door, so that we can prepare the right number of handouts. Questions? Call Carol Guenther, 752-4966, ext. 110. |

Good News for Grace Upon Grace
The Neeb Family Foundation has offered St. Mark's a generous Challenge Grant for 2011. They have agreed to match up to $25,000.00 in new funds given, promised or pledged to Grace Upon Grace after February 1, 2011 and before December 31, 2011 and we are most grateful for their support. If you have not made a pledge yet to help us meet and exceed our monthly mortgage payments, here's your chance to double your impact! If you have made a pledge, any additional donations can go to meet this goal. Thank you to those who have already responded to this challenge. . . we still have $20,000+ to go! Please contact Carol Guenther or Pat Buck for more details in the church office. |

How Can Spirituality Affect Your Family's Health?
Can spirituality promote a healthier physical life for your family? Recent medical studies indicate that spiritual people exhibit fewer self-destructive behaviors (suicide, smoking, and drug and alcohol abuse, for example) less stress, and a greater total life satisfaction.
Much of the research linking spiritual and physical health has involved elderly patients; however, the data offer a glimpse nto a possible tie between a spiritual life and good health for people of all ages.
Although spirituality has been shown to reduce depression, improve blood pressure, and boost the immune system, religious beliefs should not interfere with medical care children receive.

Thank you, St. Mark's!
We would like to express our gratitude to the entire church family for all the love, prayers, and support durring our kidney transplant process. We are also so thankful to those of you who contributed meals and especially to Pat Buck, who coordinated these efforts. We are both fully recovered. Chuck continues to see his nephrologist frequently and takes many anti-rejection medications, but is feeling fantastic! This has been an incredible journey for us and we thank all of you for your support.

Experience Music Potluck This month we are celebrating the Musical Arts. Artists-in-Residence, Darren Kerbs, Danielle Lemieux and Cooper Sherry will be leading an event on Saturday, March 12 from 10am to 1:00pm called "Experience Music Potluck," where you may experience a "potluck" of different musical styles/arts and how they relate to faith and worship. Participants will rotate between the Sanctuary, Bell and Choir rooms as they learn how to sing hymn music (in parts), how to ring handbells and how to learn and lead contemporary Christian music. After the sessions we will share in a potluck meal in the Parish Commons. This workshop is open to all ages and requires no previous musical knowledge. Questions? Contact Danielle Lemieux at 253-752-4966 (ext.105) or danielle@smlutheran.org |
