What's Happening

 at the "The Happening"

If you've driven by Grow Benzie lately you're sure to have seen the flurry of activity.  For starters, let's begin with the food:

Dave Query, who has made everything possible both last year and this year wrote the following to be put in the handout guests will received on the 16th.  It says so much that it's worth giving to you twice, now and on the night of "The  Happening", along with the menu.

"The Food We Eat"

"Tonight's dinner is a collection of the wonderful and amazing bounty that is grown, raised, nurtured and harvested in these fertile hills and valleys. Each spring when the weather starts to turn, a collection of the hardest working people around start to ply their craft and work the land. That is the same mission that we are trying to accomplish here at GROW BENZIE; to teach, educate and enjoy the benefits of getting our hands in the dirt and becoming more self sustaining stewards of this Northern Michigan land in which we live."

The Happening Menu

2011

Greenhouse Gaspacho

Smoked Lake Michigan Whitefish

Brushchetta with Grassfields Cheese

Loving Dove Farms greens with dried cherries, toasted pumpkin seeds and Land of Goshen Goat Feta

Dr. Marty's Heirloom "pork and beans"

Downstate corn on the cob with garlic, chives and salty cheese

_____________

This event is Grow Benzie's major fundraising event and as such, we've gone far and wide seeking wonderful items for the auctions.  The fun of winning an auction can be multiplied several times over when you realize that your purchases are helping a great cause.

Items continue to pour in and the following are a few more to peek your interest!  There are over 75 Silent auction items and 10 Live auction items.  Here are a few:

One of Becky Thatcher's newest designs- "Sandy Shores" bracelet made from sterling silver and quartz.  Spectacular!

4 Beach Boys Interlochen concert tickets

3 month membership in Betsy Hosick Health Center

Stone Bench from Michael Murphy

A week in cottage style home in Santa Fe

8 individual dancing ladies (everyone is already bartering back and forth as to who is going to win each one)

A one night's stay at the Inn of Black Star Farms

What's not to love about an auction that benefits everyone!
