We will have on site parking for 30 cars; additionally vehicles may be parked on both sides of Fox Lane, all the way down to the cul de sac.  Overflow parking will be at the Crystal Lake Health Center, just 2 buildings down the road on the same side of the road as Grow Benzie. We will also have two vans and drivers available to deliver people to Grow Benzie.

Feed the Pig

Pigs have evolved into something very special for Grow Benzie.  First, we are having roasted pork for our entrée at the big event being cooked for us by our celebrity chef Hosea Rosenberg, winner from Bravo's Season #5 Top Chef show.   Then we received donations of two locally grown pigs for our live auction.   So when we were looking for a way to deliver the message of this fundraiser, it  was only natural that our thoughts turned to pigs- piggy banks that is.   It is our way of drawing attention to the needs of this community, and where the funds  will go to support this effort.  Piggy Banks have long been associated with "saving" and Grow Benzie is all about "saving" our children's lives by making them healthier and more self sufficient.

On July 24th wherever you go if you come to the "big event", you will find piggy banks.  Piggy banks to fund transportation for people to get to Grow Benzie for classes.  Piggy banks for supplies for the kitchen.  Piggy banks for food for the teachers and students to use in classes where basic cooking skills will be taught.  Piggy banks to sponsor gardens.  Piggy Banks to support classes on nutrition and healthy food choices.  Piggy banks to fund the programs for the garden- compost, soil amendments, classes, seeds.  Piggy banks to pay for the tile for the kitchen.  Piggy banks to fund programs for children to grow herbs and learn how to be an entreprenuer by selling them to local restaurants. And on and on.

In case you miss them on your table, you won't have to look far to find the biggest piggy of all, pictured above who will be waiting at her own special table to be fed as well.  The piggies love cash and checks and pledges as well.

Our piggy banks will be mixed in with items in our silent auction as well so you cannot escape them.
