Parking Lot Update

Like many home building projects, Grow Benzie's home project is not any different.  We've been delayed about one week in completing our parking lot and redesign of our entrance.  The retaining walls had to be built higher than what was first estimated and so needed more time.  The good news is that it is now complete and we will definitely be ready for our June 9 opening of the Farmer's Market.  Once again, we could not have done it without the help of valuable volunteers and loyal suppliers such as Kerby Backhoe Service.

"Ho-Down" Days Ahead 
 
 
Chef "Ho" Hosea Rosenberg
 
How did we get so lucky?  How does a small town boy from Taos New Mexico end up being the Top Chef winner and then decide to come to Benzie County to put on The Big Event for Grow Benzie? 
 

The stars were aligned when one of our own "in and out" locals, Dave Query, owner of seven restaurants in Boulder CO, visited Grow Benzie last year and said, "I want to help." 
Dave offered to bring Top Chef winner  "Ho" Hosea Rosenberg, who has been the chef at Dave's award winning restaurant Jax Fish House since 2004, to Grow Benzie.
 

That's how it began.  Grow Benzie's "Ho"-Down.  We were thrilled.  Since then you've received our "Save the date" featuring Hosea cooking for us on July 24.  But let's get back to Hosea.  You know of his Bravo channel exposure, and you know it's something big when someone says, "You've got Hosea!  I can't believe it.  I've got to have tickets!" 

But there's a lot more to Hosea's background, taken from his website.  Hosea realized he wanted to be a professional chef while attending the University of Colorado where he began to devote his time and career to conquering his goal.  Past positions include cooking for Wolfgang Puck, Kevin Taylor and Sean Yontz.   Since joining Jax Fish House he's won numerous awards including Best Chef and Peoples Choice of Denver International Wine Festival (2006, 2007, 2008) ; seven-time, undefeated winner of the Flatiron Chef Competition; Guest Chef at the James Beard House (2007)- and there are many more awards, too numerous to list on this brief newsletter.
