1. Get on an online directory for your business. If you consistently see a directory that comes up on page one of Google that coincides with your business, check it out. See if there is a fee involved or if the directory listing is free.
2. Join a trade association. If you join something like "Angie's List" or the Better Business Bureau, it's a great way to gain more exposure to your site. Many trade associations have a good online presence, so it's worth the time to investigate and pay a small investment.
3. Get people talking about your product/service. Set up a Google Alert to find out anytime if someone mentions your company or links to your site. This could be due to a product or service review, blog post or social media update.
4. Join a local group. Chambers of Commerce or business networking organizations are good ways to place your link and profile on their site.
5. Respond to blog posts. Typically, when you respond to a blog post you need to enter your email and website address. This is another way to not only show industry expertise, but add some link juice without costing a penny.
6. Provide links on your site that compliment your industry. By doing so, those same businesses may be willing to reply in favor and place your link onto their website.
7. Get blog reviews. Ask your blog followers to review your product or service. Be prepared that in exchange for their review, you may have to provide some sort of incentive such as a free gift or a discount.
