Greetings!
Thanksgiving is here & you know what that means... it means you will eat twice your weight in turkey and stuffing, if you are lucky, then you will pass out on the couch in front of the TV. Or it means you are already in line, waiting for the stores with the best Black Friday deals to open, or it means that you are avoiding any store with Black Friday deals like the plague. Or, maybe you, like my husband, are dreading the inevitable visit with your in-laws.

Coming January: 2011 Limited Edition Series from Winexpert | |
Who is Winexpert?
Winexpert makes some excellent quality wine kits that even professional wine judges believe are hard to beat. A total of 2,639 wines were judged at this year's Winemaker International Amateur Wine Competition and Winexpert had 23 of the top 100 wine kits of the year. Three of the top 100 were previous years' Limited Edition wines. (Winemaker Magazine, Dec 2011/Jan 2012).
What is Limited Edition?
Each year Winexpert produces only a limited quantity of five fabulous and unique varieties from around the world. These very special wines are only available during their month of release and are so immensely popular that they can be acquired by pre-order only.
Here's a list of the wine kits they will release and when. Each kit produces 30-750 mL bottles and includes 30 labels. The complete wine descriptions and food pairing recommendations by Food Network host Anthony Sedlack are available on Winexpert's Limited Edition Release page
- January - Washington Meritage - A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot, this wine features a deep colour and intense aroma of dark fruits, spice, cedar and smoke, silky tannins on the palate with a velvety smooth structure. Dry. Allow 3 to 6 months to mellow, but it will continue improving for several years. Decant before serving. $139.95
- January - South African Sauvignon Blanc-Semillon - Herbaceous and grapefruit from the Savignon Blanc, honeydew melon & sweet honey from the Semillon. A lush, balanced wine with great up-front fruit and a satisfying, rich finish.
Dry. Age 3 months to a year. $134.95 -
February - California Petite Sirah/Zinfandel - Grippingly tannic and bold Petite Sirah complements the jamminess of Zinfandel. Abundant berry with a hint of dark cherry and vanilla, full-bodied, lingering palate and a peppery spice, long finish. Dry. Age 1 to 2 years. $139.95 - March - German Traminer Spätlese - Made from Gewurztraminer's parent, these fully mature grapes are picked at least 7 days after normal harvest, so they are riper and have higher sugar levels. Golden-coloured wine, intense aroma of lychee, tropical fruit and rose petals. Its flavours are ample, lusciously fruity and spicy. Off-dry. Age 6 months to a year. $134.95
- April - Spanish Matador Trio Red - Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon & Monastrell. Lush, tannic and complex with intense black fruit flavours of black cherry, raspberry, black currant and notes of plums and tobacco. Oak adds layers of vanilla, cedar and rich coffee. Dry. Age 3 months to one year. $139.95
Pre-orders are due in by Monday, December 5th. Reserve your choice today by calling 812.339.7233 or if you prefer, email us at vineyard@butlerwinery.com

We need more space = Cheap(er) Malt Extracts for you! |
| |
As many of you may have noticed, we desperately need space in our brew room. In trying to expand stock for what we sell more of, we have to get rid of the stuff we sell less of. Northwestern Extracts makes a good quality product for the money however, it's not selling as well as our other American products so we're clearing it out. We've marked it down to 25% off so come get some now for your next extract batch. At the discounted rate, it's now just $11.21 per 3.3 lb pkg.
We also have some overstock of Brewferm kits. These Belgian beer kits produce some smaller sized batches (apparently the brewing standard is not 5 gallons in Belgium as it is here!) but they make some really good beer. We had a brewer request we order in the Bruin (Old Brown 12L) & Ambiorix (Amber 15L) kits but due to ordering minimums with special order items we're now left with a case or two of each still in the shop.
So until the end of the year we will have these two varieties at 20% off and all other Brewferm kits (Diabolo 9L, Wheat 15L, Grand Cru 9L, Triple 9L, Abbey 9L, Christmas 7L, Kriek 12L & Frambois12L) at 10% off. Perfect for experimentation or just brew them to the recipe & you are sure to love the results!
Prices are good until stock is depleted. |

There are lots of things to give thanks for this year. And we want you to know we give thanks for you & your love of the winemaking/homebrewing hobby! All of us here at the Butler Winery would like to wish you a safe & happy Thanksgiving!
