DAI Team to Race for the Cure

On Saturday, June 4, the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure will take place in Washington, D.C. The Komen Race for the Cure raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease. In its 28th year, Race for the Cure now hosts races in locations around the world.

DAI

Dr. Sherilyne Dougherty

Welcome to the April edition! This month, we're excited to report a new contract win supporting the Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) with the delivery of distance learning programs. We're also continuing to build our community involvement, having kicked off our partnership with The Campagna Center and organized a team for the upcoming Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Our employee spotlight this month focuses on Jennifer Bond, a communications consultant who moonlights as a rock 'n' roll drummer! And finally, the construction has begun on our new fifth floor office space. Check out the initial photos below. As always, thank you for supporting the DAI Advisor, and remember past editions are posted on our archive page.

DAI on Team Awarded DOT Contract

DAI, on a team with Delan Associates, Inc., won a contract to support DOT, FHWA. The technical training arm of the FHWA is the National Highway Institute (NHI), and this program focuses on the development, promotion and presentation of distance learning options supporting NHI's Surface Transportation training efforts.

"We're very excited to help DOT FHWA explore the flexibility that distance learning offers," said DAI President and CEO, Dr. Sherilyne Dougherty. "We can offer expert, in-depth needs analysis and then follow it up with the development and delivery of courses to this diverse audience." Read full release here.

DAI Employees Host Golf Hospitality Cart

Campagna Golf Tournament

DAI team members Aaron Jones and Lissah Michalski hosted a hospitality cart at The Campagna Center's Annual Spring Golf Outing. The event raises funds that support The Center's programs serving Alexandria's children and families.

This year's tournament was held at the Mount Vernon Country Club on Monday, April 11th. After a shotgun start kicked off the festivities, players participated in an 18-hole best-ball scramble with prizes awarded for the longest drive, closest-to-the-pin, and lowest score. DAI was proud to sponsor the closest-to-the-pin contest. Read about DAI's partnership with The Campagna Center on our website.

Boom Boom at DAI: Jen Bond's Got the Beat
Jen on the drums
Jen Bond lays down the groove!
Her DAI fans know her as Jennifer Bond, communications manager at the National Security Personnel System (NSPS) Transition Office. But her music fans know her as "Boom Boom," the blonde drummer girl from the Rockersons rock 'n' roll band.

Jennifer's day job is interesting, challenging and creative. Since she joined DAI four years ago, she has worked onsite at the National NSPS Transition Office. But as much as she enjoys her day job, it's Jen's moonlighting activities that really get her adrenalin going. For the past 25 years, she has played the drums with various bands in venues such as the Knitting Factory in Los Angeles and the State Theater in Falls Church.
