DAI Provides Communications Support to the Department of the Treasury

The Department of the Treasury, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) recently awarded DAI a contract to support the development of a print and online publication for bankers, community development professionals and community organizers. The publication provides news about policies for financing infrastructure projects, focusing chiefly on the Code of Federal Requirements 24, a ruling that allows banks to make investments to promote public interests. DAI is contributing expert writing, editing and design services to help OCC reach its intended audience. Since 2006, DAI has supported a variety of OCC communications initiatives, leveraging its capabilities in program and project management, business unit writing, editing and graphic design to support organizations such as the Chief of Staff and Public Affairs Office, Communications Division and Publishing Services and the Internal Communications Division.

DAI Awarded Two Prime Contracts with the Department of the Navy

DAI was awarded two prime contracts with the Department of the Navy. The first is a contract with a five-year option under its  SeaPort-e platform for acquiring efficient and cost-effective access to professional support services. "We are delighted by the opportunity to broaden our existing collaborative partnership with the Department of Defense through a procurement vehicle that provides immediate access to a range of services at a competitive value," said DAI's President and CEO, Dr. Sherilyne E. Dougherty. "In addition, we are proud to have been awarded this prime contract vehicle in all of the regions and functional areas in which we submitted qualifications." SeaPort-e supplements DAI's existing contract vehicles (GSA MOBIS, GSA AIMS and VETS GWAC). Please visit our SeaPort-e web page to learn more about our contract, task order award and subcontracting opportunities

DAI was also awarded a contract as a preferred vendor to provide coaching, counseling and performance management services to support the Department of the Navy Human Resources Service Center located in San Diego, California. The Human Resources Service Center provides centralized HR services to civilians to include benefits, classification, compensation, executive management, labor and employee relations, recruitment and training and development.

Six Tips on Running a Successful Meeting

For over a decade, DAI has designed and facilitated dozens of conferences and meetings to support public sector clients. From branding, concept development, logistics and coordination to implementation and post-event evaluation, our reliable and customizable approach delivers results.

Below are six tips from our conference and event planning experts on how to conduct a successful meeting that achieves its goals, demonstrates good return on investment and creates a memorable experience for attendees:

1.   Jump Start Your Meeting:  Send out an agenda and background information a few days prior to the meeting, so that attendees arrive at the session informed of the format and objectives and prepared to engage in discussion.

2.   Know Your Audience Be sure the meeting facilitator is educated on the unique characteristics of the attendees and is aware of any potential "hot button" issues and how to appropriately address them.

3.   Ensure an Energized Kick Off A warm up activity, a provocative question, an amusing anecdote or a good news story can help to set the tone for a productive session. Arrange seating so that attendees face each other, in a semi-circle or U-shape, if possible, to facilitate discussion and collaboration.

4.  Focus the Discussion (and keep attendees focused throughout the day!) Keep the meeting focused on a few key issues, and revisit those themes throughout the day.  Make use of engaging visuals, ask questions, create small group discussions, and distribute information, samples, comment cards and other materials to spark discussion. Be sure to give attendees the opportunity to take breaks frequently - at least every hour or two!

5.  Consider Working Lunches Consider working lunches to encourage continued interaction among participants and to keep energy levels and participation up. Be sure to keep the menu light and accessible.

6.  Finish Strong:  Recap objectives, accomplishments and next steps. Assign action items, roles and responsibilities and due dates. Send gentle reminders after the meeting to ensure action items remain on track.
