FAQs
Question: I heard that Longfellow and McLean HS get a ton of money just for shopping through Amazon. Why don't we do that?

Answer: We do! Use (or bookmark) the Amazon link on the PTA website, chesterbrookpta.org, to get to Amazon. Any and every purchase through our PTA Amazon link counts, including books, clothes, music downloads, Kindle purchases, on-demand movies...everything! We earn 4-10 percent of every item sold and shipped, depending on the item and total number shipped each month. This is FREE money for us!

Check out our FAQs section on the website and end any questions to  Ask Chester and we'll answer them here and/or on the website.

School Supply Kits and PTA Memberships

This year you must order your school supply kits by August 23 right here. Chesterbrook PTA offers complete school supply kits for each grade, including kindergarten. Buy your School Supply Kits online and avoid trips to multiple stores to gather all the needed supplies. Our teachers love when you buy PTA School Supply kits because it gives them exactly what they need in the classroom. The supply lists are created by the teachers and include specific items that are used in the classroom all year long. The PTA does all the shopping for you and distributes School Supply Kits to your child's classroom (thanks Lisa Richter and Eleanor Gollob). This is also a fundraiser for our school!

Our other early fundraiser is Membership Sales. Did you know you can join the PTA online? Go to the PTA website to pay your dues (you can do this in the same order as when you buy school supply kits). Why? Members get a free Family Directory (nonmember price is $8) and are supporting the many enrichment programs the PTA delivers! Last year we achieved 100% percent membership (thanks Maryam Redjaee, VP-Membership) -- let's try to match it!

Supply kits and PTA memberships can be paid for by credit card. You can pay for multiple students at the same time and in a matter of minutes you can do all your back to school supply shopping-from the comfort of your beach chair! And thanks to Julie Hay for getting our website ready for your purchases!

Please Note: Supply Kits will not be sold during Open House or after school begins. Sales end August 23.

Rising Kindergarten Playdates
We're still collecting contact information for our Rising K Playdate list. Over the summer our coordinators, Carrie Moore and Melissa McManus, have organized several playground playdates so kids (and parents!) can make some new friends before school starts. The last one is August 31 at 3 pm. Please contact [email protected] if you have questions about the playdates or anything about kindergarten. You can also register for the Kinders list, as well as PTA mailings on our website at the Newsletter Sign-Up on the righthand menu.
Wounded Warriors 5K
Come get healthy this fall and support wounded warriors! Chesterbrook is teaming up with Vinson Hall for their 2nd annual 5k race to support wounded warriors. Children can participate in a free 50m race, explore tanks and humvee's, meet and greet soldiers and build on our relationship with the active and retired military members of our community. Parents and families can run the race or sponsor a warrior. Click here for more information and to register.

Chester is looking for 20 volunteers from our 6th grade class to help out at the water stations. If your child is interested, please email Candace Stromberg-Soberman. And yes, Chester will be running the races with the kids!! More information to follow but please save the date and visit the website to learn more on participating in the race.
