Our Chesterbrook PTA Spring 2011 Survey opened on Tuesday. This survey is the only comprehensive way we can solicit opinions from all of our members. Thank you to everyone who already completed it. Please take about 10 minutes (or less!) to complete the survey on our programs, fundraisers, and communications. You can link to the survey from HERE if you don't have the email. In the past, we've had a low response rate and we'd like to increase it. This is your opportunity to let us know how we're doing.

And as proof that we are "listening," we've changed the text and background color of this block after several people indicated in the survey that the white-on-green was hard to read! In addition, in response to several comments, we are working on a more secure way to deliver our electronic Directory for the 2011-2012 year, but for the remainder of this year, it still resides on our old website only. Thanks for the tips, keep 'em coming!

Also, LAST CHANCE, please complete a Fun Fair survey as soon as possible. We're already making plans for next year to make it even more fun!

Finally, please see Summer Quest news below. If you have registered but not paid, you must send in your check to retain your spot. Some unpaid spots are in full camps which we are certain we can fill with paying campers. Thank you.

Have a great weekend!

To Do This Week
SummerQuestRegister for Summer Quest

Summer Quest registration has been moving right along and we'd like to thank all of those families who have already signed up for classes. We have several classes that are closed because they have reached their maximum number of students. We also have quite a few that have reached their minimum number of students to be assured of running.  Unfortunately, there are still several camps (see attachment of low enrollment camps) which have not reached the minimum number and may have to be canceled. We will not make that decision until April 30, but we wanted to let those families who are registered for these classes know that now is the time to see if you can talk it up and see if there is a friend who might want to join your child so the class you have chosen will definitely run. We need to make the decision by the end of April to let those teachers have the opportunity to find something else and for you to choose another class to transfer to.  For anyone who has not registered yet, this would be the time!!  Please visit the Chesterbrook PTA website at www.chesterbrookpta.org for more information and register now. If you have registered online but not yet sent in a check, you must do so to secure your spot. Email summerquest@chesterbrookpta.org with any questions.

Plan for All-School Photo
As you read in Mr. Fuqua's By-Line yesterday, on April 13th at 10 am, we will be taking a photograph of the entire school. Students will gather by grade on the blacktop to form a blue "C" amid a white background and smile up to the photographer on a ladder on the roof! Students and faculty in the 5th and 6th grade should wear royal blue (such as last year's Field Day t-shirt) or navy blue (like PTA Spirit Wear t-shirts, a few still available, contact Kate Garcia). Students and faculty in kindergarten (we hope PM kindergartners can come too!) through 4th grade should wear white. The picture will be in this year's yearbook! (Presale deadline has passed, but a limited number will be available in the front office after delivery.)
Save the Date: Outdoor Movie Night
This year we are moving our Family Fun Movie Night outdoors! Mark your calendars for a Friday, May 13, 8:30 pm showing of a family-friendly G-rated movie (TBD) on Chesterbrook's grounds. Courtesy of the PTA, Chesterbrook families can come and enjoy a free movie night under the stars.  Look for more details about how to sign up to participate and volunteer in an upcoming communication. Apologies to our youngest kids--we cannot start the movie any earlier as it has to be dark enough to be able to see the screen!
Recycle Printer Cartridges...Elsewhere
The school (and PTA or SCA) are no longer recycling printer/toner cartridges or old cell phones. The vendor we had been using is no longer providing us any benefit. We understand that MOM's Organic Market and Staples both recycle, so encourage you to take these items there. If someone is interested in working with either the PTA or SCA to find a new vendor, please let us know.
Volunteer for 2011-2012
Notice that our list is shrinking! Please consider volunteering for a PTA committee or board position. We have added new open positions for the 2011-2012 school year on our website. There is something for every schedule, and most positions don't require any experience or background. Here are a few:
  • After School Programs Manager
  • Auction Team Members (no cold calling required!)
  • Chess Club Assistant Managers
  • Cultural Diversity Liaison
  • Friday Digest Editor
  • Picture Day Coordinator
Please contact the nominating committee if you would like help figuring out where you fit!
