Hoops for Haiti Join in the Fun at the McLean Pyramid Hoops for Haiti fundraiser, which features a teacher vs. teacher basketball tournament at McLean High School's main gym on Friday, April 16th, 6:00 PM.
The cost will be $5 per person.
There will also be a three-point shoot-out at halftime.
All proceeds will be donated to two separate nonprofit organizations, Project Hope and Shelter Box, to benefit the people of Haiti.
Nine Chesterbrook faculty members will "represent", and we need as many spectators as possible. The other schools that are participating in our pyramid are: Haycock, Kent Gardens, Franklin Sherman, Timber Lane, Longfellow and McLean HS. Hope to see you all there!!

Registration is open to all students, regardless of their local school affiliation.
Additional classes may be added to the catalog during the registration period.
In the event of low registration, management may eliminate or combine a class with another class.
Children registered for full day of classes will need to bring lunch. Lunch is between Noon and 12:30 PM.
Chipmunk Avenue is the PTA's new online class registration feature. Information about Chipmunk Avenue is available by clicking HERE.
Chipmunk Avenue allows payment by personal check, credit card or PayPal.
$2.50/week fee added to tuition at time of registration.

Collection For Carlin Springs ES Please help us collect items needed by the students and teachers at Carlin Springs Elementary School in Arlington. Carlin Springs' student population includes a very large percentage of children on free or reduced lunches and the school does not have a PTA.

Please be considerate and donate new school supplies only. While we would prefer to donate new board games as well, we will accept gently-used games if the packaging is not ripped and there are no missing game pieces.

Summer Opportunities Fair For Exceptional Children Ages 7-21 Featuring SUMMER SLEEPAWAY CAMPS AND LOCAL OPTIONS SATURDAY, APRIL 17 from 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM at 11614 SEVEN LOCKS ROAD, POTOMAC, MD 20854
The camps represented will support a broad range of mainstream and special education school children with challenges including: LD, ADD/ADHD, HFA, PDD/NOS, mild social and emotional disorders, cognitive disabilities, and sensory integration issues.
Camp activities include: sports; performing and visual arts; adventure; personal/social development; academics; aquatics; community service; horseback riding; speech and language therapy; vocational training and more. |
Bullying is a Big Problem Whether is is traditional bullying found on the playground or at the lunchroom table or the 21st century-style bullying in cyberspace, bullying is a problem that is on the rise. Bullying is a problem that affects millions of students, and it has everyone worried as it hits the news channels and online media.

FCPS FY 2011 Advertised Budget
Earlier this month the School Board approved the FY 2011 Advertised Budget with amendments.
Here are a few of the amendments/revisions included in the Advertised Budget:
- Restore funding of $17.1 million to eliminate the class size increase of one student per teacher for all classes except special education;
- Restore $2.2 million for the Foreign Language in the Elementary Schools (FLES) teacher positions in elementary schools, as well as the FLES support position in Instructional Services;
- Restore funding of $1.4 million for assistant principal positions;
- Restore funding of $0.8 million for instructional assistant positions;
- Recognize additional reductions in central office support to schools of $0.9 million;
Here are a variety of budget presentations that should serve to inform you about what parents, teachers, administrators -- but most of all, students are facing come July 1, 2010.
