IMPORTANT INFORMATION:  MORE STUDENTS NEEDED FOR FLEX Foreign Language Classes
We have postponed the start dates for two FLEX foreign language classes because we do not have enough students to begin the classes.  The Spanish class originally scheduled to begin November 23, 2009 has been postponed to Monday December 7.  The Chinese class originally scheduled to begin Tuesday, December 1 has been postponed to Tuesday, December 8.  The classes will only operate if enough students have enrolled.
The Chinese Class Needs One More Student.
The Spanish Class Needs Two More Students.
If you register your child, please email Sara Franko and Mary Jean Fell at flex@chesterbrook.org so they can keep you informed regarding whether the class will be held or cancelled.  To register, visit the PTA website at:  www.chesterbrook.org/FLEX2009.
[My apologies for failing to update the FLEX information last Friday.  This caused an inconvenience for a few families.  Greg]

For Your Consideration
FCPS Logo We all know by now that parent groups (Fairfax FLAGS, FACE and others) are forming to advocate for our schools and our children, but did you know that . . .
  • Class size could increase by 2 students?
  • Autism student-teacher ratios could increase?
  • Instructional Assistants could decrease by 20%?
  • The average age of the bus fleet could increase?
  • Preventative maintenance could decrease?
  • Not to mention that our teachers and administrators will not receive a raise for the second year in a row.
Our School Board Members and Jack Dale say the only way around this crisis is to increase the county transfer to FCPS which means increasing the average residential real estate tax bill.
Is this a cynical game of chicken?
Some parent groups believe our elected officials need to look at cutting administrative overhead before cutting classroom funding.
