In 1998 we attended our first Imago Couples Workshop. The reason was, as with most couples, our desire to understand and change the tension and conflict in our relationship. Immediately the Imago idea touched and thrilled us to such an extent that we decided to pursue this path both privately and professionally.

This form of relationship work is not just a great enrichment for couples. In our work with organizations as coaches, supervisors and consultants, we are able to experience how Imago Theory, methods, and especially the overall Imago attitude, has contributed to great change and development in regions around the world. We hope and wish that Imago might also constitute a big step forward in your professional and personal future, and we are happy to support and accompany you on this path.

It can be so exciting when a couple who seems caught up in their pain, suddenly breaks through to a new realization which brings happiness and love.  This is the true heart of Imago practice, where it's the couple who take ownership for their own work, and are therefore much more open to those "Ah ha" moments that create results.

I M A G O

It just makes sense!

Greetings!

I am pleased and very excited to announce two professional trainings in Imago Relationship Theory:
  • Basic Clinical Training (BCT) for therapists
  • Professional Facilitator Training (PFT) for non-therapists
Imago Relationship Theory is an integrated process for working with couples, parents, children, dyads, groups, and organizations who seek to enhance the relationships they share.

In 1988, Harville Hendrix and Helen LaKelly Hunt published "Getting The Love You Want," a book that established Imago in the forefront of the field of relationship education. Since that time, "Getting The Love You Want" has sold over two million copies and helped hundreds of thousand of couples around the world explore the path to developing a more committed partnership.

As Imago has continued to evolve as both a theory and a method for developing relational skills, it becomes more and more evident that it has broader implications that can be applied in a vast range of community, organizational, and educational settings - wherever people seek more fulfilling ways to live and work together.

Please share this notice with others.

Basic Clinical Training for Therapist
Dates:  Sept 4-7; Jan 8-11; May 7-10 (all three sessions required)

Imago Relationship Therapy is a wonderfully effective and safe approach to helping people in relationship grow into understanding each other more fully and relating more honestly as they evolve into greater wholeness as individuals within the relational context they share.

Imago Theory recognizes that the inherent nature of human beings is what Jung described as a "push toward wholeness." That wholeness contains Maslow's qualities of a self-actualized person: spontaneity and creativity, acceptance, a balance between solitude and deeply intense relationships, humor, caring and compassion for others, inner direction, and an open and fresh attitude toward life.

Throughout our development as human beings, that wholeness is fragmented through experiences in relationships with our caretakers and results in a significant impact upon the choice of a marriage or relationship partner and upon the dynamics of all our relationships in adulthood.

The ultimate goal of the work that couples do in Imago Relationship Therapy is to assist each other in repairing the wounded or injured aspects of that original state, and to reclaim the whole self that can more passionately and vibrantly express itself in life and in relationships.

This course is designed to prepare the Certified Imago Therapist® to be publicly known and recognized in the field of couples therapy.

Class size is limited to 16 participants. Minimum 8 participants required.

Professional Facilitator Training for Non-Therapists
Dates:  Sept 9-12; Jan 13-16; May 12-15 (all three sessions required)

The Professional Facilitator program is designed to help professionals in a broad range of fields to become more effective at creating stronger and more productive relationships within different organizational and cultural contexts through facilitating the Imago dialogue.

Participants are taught to look underneath the surface of disagreements to reveal underlying feelings and emotional needs.  By uncovering these needs, Imago facilitators can be more powerful at building connections between people in a wide variety of settings from families to organizations.

This training is intended for professionals who want to apply Imago Theory and practice in the specialized context of their own profession.  The emphasis is on learning how to apply Imago processes in non-therapeutic contexts. The goal is to help individuals integrate Imago not only as a method, but also as a personal attitude into their professional activities.

The training is intended for:  Lawyers, Doctors, Health-Care Professionals, Family Advisers in Legal and Financial Fields, Ministers and Clergymen of All Faiths, Professional Divorce Mediators, Nutritionists, School Counselors, Early Childhood Development Specialists, Teachers, and Couples.

Class size is limited to 16 participants. Minimum 8 participants required.

Testimonials

A graduate of the 2009 Basic Clinical Training in Hong Kong:

The Imago training has not only given me a theoretical framework that makes sense, and a structured approach that is straightforward and practical; most importantly, it has given me a level of confidence and enthusiasm for working with couples no matter who they are or why they want counseling support.   The best thing about the knowledge and skills I have gained through training is that they work - and couples keep coming back for more!!  I highly recommend it!

A recent graduate of the Professional Facilitator Training in Austria:

I work for a pharmaceutical company and I am responsible for the sector Production and Technology.
My training as an Imago Professional Facilitator allowed me to gain a better self-awareness, which enabled me to successfully use the Imago methods in the dialogue with individuals, couples and groups.

This became evident in good and productive team meetings, led in a respectful manner.  As a team leader, I was able to defuse conflicts and communicate with my colleagues in a mutually appreciative way.

The Imago Professional Facilitator training also had a very positive effect on my private life.  I feel more balanced and calm and I very much appreciate the conversations with my grown up daughters and my friends.  In my relationship, Imago has become a guide that has made our development as a couple more exciting and alive as well as more loving and understanding.
