Ellen Shattuck Pierce - Floor Play

FLOOR PLAY, a solo-exhibition featuring the works of Ellen Shattuck Pierce is now in the gallery. The show consists of six prints, a life-sized wall stencil and a floor piece compiled of thirty linoleum carvings.

Opening Reception: SAT SEPT 12th, 2-5pm!

Tile, Ellen Shattuck Pierce "My new suite of prints is based on memory.  Each line I carve creates a moment of history and is made permanent in the linoleum. I find this process reassuring as nothing will be lost; each thought is there and will remain there waiting to be printed again... more" - Ellen Shattuck Pierce

Join us for a gallery talk about FLOOR PLAY on Sat Sept  26, from 1:00 - 2:30pm! Gallery Director Jocelyn Almy-Testa will briefly discuss the premise of the gallery and then introduce Ellen, who will discuss her work and artistic process.

Gallery talks at TLGUTS are informal and include a question/discussion period at the end of the presentation.

Ruth Lieberherr, Nightwalk

"I usually begin my paintings without a premeditated concept. From the fluid feeling of paint on canvas or on paper, I go where the inspiration of the colors leads me. Influenced by the ideas of the Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner, I explore the character and expressions of the different colors..."

-Ruth Lieberherr (As a gallery member, Ruth will soon have her own page on our website where you can see more of her work and read more about the artist!)
