I do this every October so we can reflect on all that has happened and all we have learned the previous year. So much happens in women's health in a 12-month period, that it is important for me to share this with you. This October's "Cottage Conversations" is 58 minutes long (!) so grab a glass of wine or a cup of coffee and enjoy. Next October, I'm already planning on doing a "Kentucky Cottage Conversation!"  Our new Crestview Hills, Kentucky office opened in October and we are already feeling at home. We are always excited to be able to serve women by listening to their story and offering them hope for a better path on their journey to wellness.   You will want to check out our website's events page for our Holiday Hours. We will be closed Thanksgiving Day through Sunday, and then reopen on Monday, November 28. We will also have shortened hours for the upcoming Christmas Holiday....also on my website.

  We have some great events in the works for our annual "NEW YEAR, NEW YOU" campaign. Dr. Amy Brenner and I are planning a women's health event in West Chester on Thursday evening, January 5, 4:00pm - 8:00pm entitled "A New You in 2012.....or maybe just a little less of you!!"  She will focus on weight loss and I will discuss hormone imbalance issues. Dr. Matt Holten and I are planning another famous "Happy Hormones Meet No Jelly Belly" event on Wednesday, January 12, 6:30pm at the Holten Wellness Center in Centerville. These classes are always well attended, so we are excited to offer it again. These events are free, fun and fabulous! More details to come in my December newsletter.

  Emails! I get emails :)  Here is one from a new client that made me laugh out loud!
"Hi Lyn,
   We have spoken before, and I was in for a consult last Tuesday, did my lab work on Wednesday and sent everything in on Thursday. I am so anxious to get going and feeling better! I had to email you and let you know of my interesting encounter today. I took my little 80 year old mother-in-law for a gynecologic visit. After she was finished and we were meeting with the doctor, I just had to bring up bioidentical hormones and the Happy Hormone Cottage. So I said I was somewhat looking for a gynecologist and was currently working with the Happy Hormone Cottage....and wanted to know how she and her medical group there felt about working with me and your staff at the cottage. I knew by the look on her face what was coming. She said, "We are fine with that as long as the patient understands that what the Happy Hormone Cottage offers is absolutely no different than what I can pull out of my drawer to give to you." I'm thinking to myself how in the world can she say that??? But then she continued with this statement, "One problem they have is they have to keep changing the treatment, while WE just give it to you and that's that. No changes!!" What?? Did she really just say that?? Why would she even admit that?? LOL!  Anyway, I was so glad I asked because this medical group will most definitely NOT be seeing me as a patient! Just thought you would appreciate seeing this. Take care."

  Isn't that the funniest thing you have heard in a long time?! This is wrong on just so many levels! First of all, what we offer IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT than what she can "pull out of a drawer." Guess what?? We actually check each woman's hormone levels BEFORE we recommend hormone therapy and THEN WE customize it for EACH woman. We don't just open a drawer and slap on an estrogen patch or prescribe a synthetic, one-size-fits-all drug or worse, an antidepressant! Secondly, the point of customizing hormone replacement therapy for each woman is so we CAN customize hormone therapy for each woman! WHY would we want to take something that is the same for everyone, when we are each our own individual AND why would we even consider using a product when we haven't properly measured existing levels or conditions?? It boggles the mind!! Thirdly, WE CAN and DO listen to each client's body's biofeedback so we CAN adjust dosing of our hormone therapy. WHY would we want a one-size-fits-all dosage that we NEVER change to meet our body's changing needs as we age?? I mean, are you kidding me??  This closed mentality of many of our doctors is simply unacceptable. They do not yet realize that guess what? Women want natural! They don't want what has been done for the ages because IT IS NOT WORKING! When I read things like this from so many of our doctors, with tools in their toolbox that just don't work for us, and have such limiting beliefs, it just reinforces that I am SO glad I am doing what I am doing!
