Nissan: A Time of Great Beginnings
Our excitement is building. We are only months away from the official opening of Ramah
Outdoor Adventure at Ramah in the Rockies! This unique Ramah camp
will ask young people to push their boundaries through outdoor adventure,
cultivate and care for the land, be stewards of the natural environment, engage
in acts of kindness and justice, study sacred texts and bring new meaning to
them, and take part in building a community of committed Jews.
We have 70 campers registered from across the country! We have room for more, so help us by
reaching out to others. We hope to
see you at our Grand Opening June 13, 2010!

Referral Incentive!
We are 70% of our way towards our 2010 registration
goal! Help us achieve 100% by spreading the word about Ramah Outdoor
Adventure to friends and family. For each referral who then registers for camp, you will earn
either $75 or $180. See details here |
Thank you to Laura Cher
for coordinating with the Colorado Forest Service, and for writing the successful grant proposal to plant 450 trees this Spring!
Thank you, also, to volunteer Brian Zales for developing a clear and clean system of accounting and financial reporting for Ramah in the Rockies.

Featured Chalutz: Eytan Agus
My name is Eytan and I'm in seventh
grade at SASSDS (South Area Solomon Schecter Day School).
This
summer, I have decided to go to Camp Yavneh and Ramah Outdoor Adventure. The activities at Ramah Outdoor Adventure sound like lots of fun,
and I am looking forward to spending a few weeks in the Colorado Rocky
Mountains. I also thought it would be fun to be... read more

Pioneers Campaign Ends... Hineini
Campaign Begins!
The Pioneers Campaign
brought in over $400,000 in gifts and pledges - A great start! With these funds, we are preparing the
site for campers this coming summer; building tents to house them, equipping a
kitchen to feed them, erecting a temporary event tent to protect them from the
unpredictable Rocky Mountain weather and providing sufficient 'comfort
stations' (lavatories) to make them comfortable. These gifts came from more than 150 donors, including 75 new
ones, excited by our vision of building a camp in the West combining outdoor
adventure and environmental education with Jewish living and learning.
The Hineini
Campaign
The journey of the Jewish people begins when Moses, standing
on holy ground at the site of the burning bush, answers God's call with the
words "Hineini", "Here I Am". The 'Hineini' campaign, asks that we accept the
challenge of building a site where young Jews strengthen their connection to
the Jewish people.
Our goal is to raise $2,000,000 through 2010 and
2011. The money raised will be used for capital improvements, camper scholarship
and organizational development.
Now
is the time to stand up and be counted!
Say, "Hineini", "Here I Am". Click here to donate.

Director's Blog: Connecting Our Seder to the Jewish Food Movement
It is the month of Nissan and spring is in the air. If I was living
on a farm here in Colorado, I would be plowing the fields, spreading
manure, and getting ready to plant our first spring vegetables. Sadly
I do not live in such close proximity with the land. Instead, I live
in a house in Metro Denver and would not be able to fit a tractor
through the door that leads to my back yard.
No, this time of year is a time when many of us... read more

Grant Received for Tree Planting
With the imperative to build the first green camp in America, Ramah in the
Rockies has received a grant to plant 450 trees on the site this spring. The trees will be planted to reforest an 80 acre area of devastation from the Heyman Fire in 2002. Want to help clear fallen trees and plant new ones? Join us for volunteer building days in May. Contact Tammy Dollin for details and to lend a hand!
