Greetings!

Debt Ceiling, Greek and European debt issues, bad global recession.....

Should you freak out?  Time to move the cash to the mattress?  I don't think so.

Here are my current thoughts........

Gold and Chinese Incomes

China Gold

Very interesting correlation between Chinese and Indian income levels and the price of gold.

Is China and India the reason for Gold's continued price increase?  At least contributing to it if not the cause (remember that correlation does not equate with causation).

I think the demand for gold is a factor, which causes me some slight concern due to the bubble that I think China is.  India I'm not sure about yet.  If the bubble bursts, the demand for and price of gold will decline.

7,000 Muni Bonds at Risk of Automatic Downgrade

 US Bonds

If the US Gov't is downgraded (I argue when not if) then 7,000 municipal bonds will be automatically downgraed as well.  At least according to Moody's.

This really hurts retirees as they're the largest part of this market.

What Drives You to be Frugal?

Many of my clients are wealthy because they simply spent less than they made and invested wisely the difference.

But what is frugal?  If you consider yourself frugal, are you happy with this?  Proud?

I like this article linked below because it talk about WHY you can be happiest being frugal.

I like that.

What Mike is Doing this Summer

So I'm sitting around my Boulder office this past winter thinking

"what should I do for fun this summer?
a.  Spend time at our Wyoming cabin
b.  Go to my niece's wedding
c.  Dress up as Stormtrooper and walk across Australia"

I was going to do C. above, but then this guy beats me to it!  So I guess that leaves me with just a. and b., which I did.
