Greetings!
Tax Time is right around the corner, and even if you're extending your return, you still have to get those Traditional and Roth 2009 checks in before April 15th.
If you've always wanted to make a Roth Contribution but were phased out, you can do a "back door" Roth contribution by first making a deductible Roth contribution and then immediately converting it to a Roth.
Listen to my video where I talk a little more about this and the IRA rules for 2009 and 2010.

Treasuries Interest Rates Spike up
The US Government is writing checks its body can't cash! Demand was weak for last week's treasury auction causing many, including me, to think the rise in interest rates is finally right around the corner.
To do: Check the duration of your bonds and bond mutual funds. As interest rates increase, the value of these bonds will go down.
Social Security to See Payout Exceed Pay-in this Year
Yikes! This wasn't supposed to happen until 2016, but the Congressional Budget Office is expecting payouts to exceed pay-ins for Social Security to happen this year. Yes, 2010 not 2016.
This is a very troubling report. To Do: It is absolutely (did i say absolutely?) essential you take control of your own retirement. Don't expect a large and long payout from the government. Ask me for a free retirement analysis so you know where you stand.

Here are 12 ways to cut your taxes.
Be sure not to forget about energy efficient home improvements and this year you can take the sales tax off a new car purchased after Feb 16, 2009.

Where Mike does his work.....
I moved my offices about a month ago from North Boulder to Downtown Boulder. My new address is
1818 16th Street Boulder, CO 80302 303.747.6455
This is the first time I've had an office so close to where everything is, and I have to say I really like it! Plus, there's free parking at my place, so don't worry about that when we meet.
Give me a call, stop by and say hi!

I'm here to help!....
I'd love to talk more with you about the above topics or anyway I can help you grow and preserve your money while providing for yourself, your family, and community.
