$1.42 Trillion US Government Deficit?  How can that be good?  I argue that this is a really big deal and the next 10 years projected deficits (using favorable assumptions I might add) are quite disturbing.

Expectation of Inflation 1.75%

You've heard me talking about inflation over the past months.  Looking at the 10 year treasury yield minus the TIPS yield, the market is only pricing in about 1.75%.  The bond market is not perfectly prescient, and this is in contrast to many analysts and economists.


Housing Starts for September

Housing StartsNew home starts are better than they were but still way off from just a year ago.  My opinion is that the worst is NOT over and housing (both residential and commercial) will continue to have difficulties in the coming year or two.  



Should you Bet against the Dollar?

I'm not a big fan of trend following futures Currency Symbolstrading, but the US Dollar has been receiving  a lot of press recently due to the total collapse over the past year.  There are a number of currency funds out there now to satisfy the demand.  I don't recommend them as they're inappropriate for most people, but be sure to click on link below for more  detailed information.

Last Child in the Woods
I'm co-host of a Book Club and our book for November 4th is Last Child in the Woods.  This book is about how our children today are becoming disconnected from the natural world.  Instead of passing summer months hiking, swimming, etc, they're in computer camps or weight-loss camps.
