| ˇFeliz Navidad - Merry Christmas!
|
Greetings!
We wish you the joys and peace of the season, now and throughout your life. Our life in our little village feels prosperous, and we feel fortunate and blessed.
While communities in our world continue to face environmental, religious and social problems, we also see and feel the positive influences of friendship and hope in the smaller circles of our lives. Our wish is for these smaller circles to divide and multiply throughout our planet - that wherever you and we tread, we spread just a bit more of the positive spirit that is alive and well in all of us.
We wish you all health, strength, courage and hope -- now and in the New Year. May we all put forth our very best effort for the good of all in 2010.
Love,
Susan and Ted |
Project Amigo

Several of our higher education scholars finished top in their classes, or even their whole schools! The first generation to go beyond third grade, these students are on their way to charting a new course for the generations that will follow them. We take heart in this.
While the 2008-09 work week season was our busiest ever, this 2009-10 season has slowed down due to media madness about cartels and H1N1, and "the economy."
Visitors came from all parts of the US and western Canada, and brought with them their smiles and hugs. They worked and played with children and adults, shared their lives and customs, and let the children and their families share their own lives and customs with them. We are humbled by the power of the interchanges between the students and the visitors to transform each others' views.
Volunteers brightened our new Casa Amiga with vibrant colors early in the year; and visitors throughout the year have enjoyed the warmth and camaraderie that this home and its residents exude. We are cheered by the success of this program.
Our donations are down because of the economy. If you can make a year end donation; even a modest one, please do. Donate Here |
Rotary
Membership in Susan's Rotary Club fell dramaticly last year. As a result her members were invited to join The Colima Rotary Club (Ted's Club).
Now the Colima Rotary club is much stronger, has women members and is fun.
We are looking forward to participation at Rotary's International Convention in Montreal in June 2010. If you are going, please volunteer to work in our booth for a few hours.

Personal Stuff
We are both blessed with good health. Susan's father continues to enjoy good health and independent living in Sequim, WA. Ted's mother is in a nursing home near Guadalajara.
Our biggest challange is finding our replacements for Project Amigo. We want to retire or at least partially retire and are looking for the prefect couple or individules who would enjoy dedicating a chunk of their lives to the best kids in the world.
We took our first vacation in a couple of years last fall. We spent a week at an agri-tour farm in a tiny village in Croatia; and two weeks in Tuscany. Highlights included Roman ruins in Croatia; Assisi and St. Francis' Basilica; and a hand-painted plate from Deruta - our birthday and Christmas presents to each other for a couple of years! A second agri-tour farm stay at the base of the hill town of Pari, in Tuscany, provided an unexpected blend of cross-cultures (British, Canadian, Peruvian and Northern Italian) -- all in a tiny Italian community. And of course - great food and wine. |
