Greetings!
We are certainly experiencing difficult times in Illinois. Because it is during these times that many of our constituents need us most, Extension is exploring ways to continue to provide our high-impact programming to the more than 500,000 residents who utilize us each year.
Our leaders are seeking your input at upcoming public meetings. We hope you will be able to attend and weigh in on the various plans to restructure Extension. For locations and dates for these meetings, click here. It's projected that Extension funding will not only decline by millions of dollars statewide next year, but a cut in state funding is expected this year as well. Rest assured that we are doing all we can to maintain our quality and outreach, and as always we welcome your thoughts and ideas on how we can Help You Put Knowledge to Work.
Sincerely,
Willene Buffett
Cook County Director |

Master Naturalist Classes Begin in March Get closer to becoming one with nature this spring
The Illinois Master Naturalist (ILMN) program provides science-based educational opportunities that connect people with nature and help them become engaged environmental stewards. Our natural resources are under increased pressure from many sources, including urbanization, invasive species and climate change.
This program is designed for any adult, 18 or over, who is committed to life long learning and stewardship of local resources. You will need to have time for volunteering and for on-going training as well as good communications skills to be a successful Master Naturalist.
