Take Action
NCGA urges farmers and all interested parties to contact the EPA by July 20 to support an increase in the allowable ethanol blend for gasoline.

This is crucial for the corn ethanol industry and to support energy security and a vibrant rural economy.

"Your leadership is needed to ensure the final legislation is crafted in a way that maximizes the participation of farmers and ranchers while minimizing the economic burden in the climate change equation," the letter stated. NCGA and other major agriculture commodity groups recently sent a letter to Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson regarding the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for the updated Renewable Fuel Standard.

The letter expressed gratitude for EPA's work on this issue and also outlined concerns, including the potential to place unnecessary regulations on the agriculture community. The organizations also urged EPA to continue collaboration with the United States Department of Agriculture on this issue.

NCGA and 16 other agriculture groups this week encouraged Senator Herb Kohl (D-Wisc.), chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Technology and Senator John D. Rockefeller IV (D-W.V.), chairman of the Judiciary Committee's Antitrust Subcommittee requesting to move forward on comprehensive rail legislative efforts.
