Unless it is a Red Ant, we
really don't think twice about seeing an ant. 
The Pharaoh Ant may not bite us, but they
do cause the spread of infection, electrical interference and a nuisance.
The Pharaoh Ants are tiny and are yellowish or very light brown and
tend to hide in electrical outlets.
Their size allows them to
invade and infect in a place where we don't expect it.
They are a major hazard to
patients in hospitals and nursing homes.
Pharaoh Ants are so small
that they have been found in surgical wounds, I.V. glucose solutions, and
sealed packs of sterile dressing, soft drinks and water pitchers in hospitals
and nursing homes.
The ants are capable
of mechanically transmitting diseases and contaminating sterile materials.
If the hospital is infected with ants, it
could cause a much serious condition then you went in for. What about all the patients that go to a
nursing home to recover? Pharaoh Ants could be crawling in their
wounds while they sleep and leave behind a disease.
The Pharaoh Ant feeds on jellies, honey, shortening, peanut butter,
corn syrup, fruit juices, baked goods, soft drinks, greases, dead insects and
shoe polish. Also, these ants gnaw holes
in silk, rayon and rubber goods. How
