Life Cycle of the GRUB:
The adults lay eggs in the soil. Grubs live in the soil and feed on roots of many different plants. White grubs may be active in the soil throughout the year, but different species take varying times to complete their life cycle of 1 to 4 years.
Symptoms of Grub Damage:
Plants affected by grub feeding may suddenly wilt. Grubs can kill small plants and gnaw cavities in root vegetables. Species of white grubs that feed on grass roots cause yellow patches in lawns. In many cases you may be able to lift back dead patches of your lawn like a carpet where grubs have been feeding. What will replace these areas that have died off will be weeds. Heavy infestations of grubs attract raccoons, skunks, armadillos, opossums, crows, ibis, and other birds, that make holes in the lawn and garden to feed on the grubs. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, grubs alone cause an estimated $234 million in damageeach year- $78 million in control costs and an additional $156 million for replacement of damaged turf.
Grub season is starting now and we will be treating in May and June. If you should choose to wait, the next time we will treat for grubs is September and October. If you wish to schedule grub treatment during your regularly-scheduled service, it will be only an additional $85.00 (with coverage up to 7,000 sq. ft.) The German Cockroach
 The German cockroach is the most common house infesting cockroach and the number one pest in the United States. Not all cockroaches are pests. We have 4,000 known species and only 20 of them are classified as pests. About 50- 60 species live in the United States The word Cockroach comes from the Spanish word "Cucaracha "which means "Crazy Bug" How hard is it to kill a cockroach? Well, they can live up to 9 days without its head. What a site that would be....a headless cockroach. Yuck! Next time you try to catch a cockroach, remember, the tropical cockroaches can move 50 body lengths per second. Once it is under the sofa, it has won. Make sure you have someone else lick your envelopes. The cockroaches' favorite food is the glue on envelopes! Makes you think how many were feeding off your envelopes the night before. If you see only one cockroach, figure you have at least 50 more hiding. WHAT IF........ What would happen if you didn't treat for cockroaches and they lived in your home undetected for just one year? Well, a female cockroach can produce two million little cockroaches in one year! Imagine, two million cockroaches running wild in your home every night, leaving droppings on everything your children touch (even their toothbrushes), rummaging through your food, crawling on your body while you sleep. |
