Electronics Recycling
A recent visit to a previously featured TRY
Partner has inspired me once again remind everyone of the 4 'Rs' of Recycling. Recycle,
Reduce, Reuse, And RECONSIDER. Before
hauling another gizmo, gadget, or appliance to the curb side consider fixing
it. Living
in Grand Bend, I am accustomed to frequent power surges. Smart enough to
realize a power bar/surge protector is as essential as bread and water in my
part of the country, I've yet to learn that many a switch can be turned off by
another family member or family pet. Like
many, my boyfriend has become accustomed to "the cheap" and "the latest" in
electronic marvels that often send
the old generation to the trash at the first sign of trouble. The lost art of miserly behaviour has
made a comeback with today's economy and I am no exception to this. After
flipping through more flyers than I care to mention and price shopping my way
through an abundance of websites, I suddenly became overwhelmingly disappointed
with myself. It took the
realization of spending more money that I cared to, to remember the obvious,
the words I publicly proclaim everyday....Recycle, Reduce, Reuse, Reconsider! NESA
(National Electronics Service Association) Fixing
and reusing most of what comes in to their electronic business is what Ron and
Rod McClay do to help the environment. To make a long story - short... Thanks NESA you saved me $150.00 and I can look forward to
watching DVD's in front of the fire for another winter. Without guys like you, the Big "R"
would just be a wasted letter. With
the city moving towards a curb side ban of televisions, computer monitors and
other electronics, these items can be dropped off at either of the cityEnviro Depots. |
