Last year, instead of giving small gifts to our children's godparents and teachers, we gave a donation through
ELCA Good Gifts in their honor instead. I was actually surprised by the positive response we received. Leif and Bjorn's teachers were particularly appreciative.
ELCA Good Gifts makes it really easy to share share news of the gift as well. For free, you can order
cards,
post cards,
brochures and
stickers.
We used the post cards last year and chose gifts like "education for children" for the teachers and "food for hungry people" for godparents. This year we plan to give gifts towards the
ELCA Malaria Campaign.I found the
Global Barnyard stickers this year and plan to give a gift in honor of my godchildren and give them the sheet of stickers along with a more tangible gift.
You can also give to scholarships for seminary students, warm meals in a soup kitchen, animals to sustain families, and Bibles. There are many
good gifts to give.
