Jr. High Youth Gathering
T'was the week before Thanksgiving and all through the gathering, not a Jr. HIgh student was quiet, not even a smattering. ...
Yes, this past week 1200 Jr. High students and adult leaders from across the synod gathered to experience God's love at the Jr. High Youth Gathering themed, Gracebook. Daughter of our synod, Arielle Mastellar spoke about God's grace and how that is carried out in our daily lives. Worship leader, Justin Anderson used music to praise God and receive God's grace. Gathering Chaplain Jay Graves preached on Gracebook, using the popular video game Medal of Honor to illustrate how it's not enough to read the Bible, we need to live it.
The LYO board put the whole thing together, including a skit to the song, "I will Never Surrender" by Skillet, a Faithtalk by Ben Wolff, a musical solo by Allison Schiller and providing MC's who brought energy and entertainment to the mass gatherings. Night life was a blast and brought the whole community of faith together. Gathering participants gave nearly $2,000 in offerings that will be given to Lutheran Social Services Children and Family Services. Thank you to everyone who made this gathering serve as a vehicle for Christ's love.
