Langhorne Quilter Receives Awards
  garden tour
We first met scientist-turned-quilter Dave Dunkelberger at the LCA Gathering of Quilts Community Quilt Show in November 2009 where he delighted us with his colorful, detailed, and humorous depictions of Langhorne landmarks, the old Langhorne Speedway, and the self-portrait of a mad scientist.  Dave recently won two awards at the 23nd Annual Peddler's Village Quilt Competition.  He took third place in the Applique Category for his "Happy Chanukah Runner," and tied for first place in the Creative Category for his "Deadliest Catch" quilt, shown above.  Congratulations, Dave!

An Irish Evening in the Arts -- March 19
One of the highest arts in Ireland is storytelling. Come out on March 19 to meet someone who truly has the "gift of blarney."

To celebrate the Irish in all of us, LCA is pleased to present "An Irish Evening in the Arts"
Friday, March 19     7:30 PM
at Middletown Friends Meetinghouse
453 W. Maple Avenue in Langhorne

Professional storyteller Raymond Gray will entertain with traditional folktales from the "auld sod," such as would have been told around a turf fire in days gone by.  Harpist Mary Bryson will add to the warm and cozy ambiance of the lovely, historic Meetinghouse.  Admission at the door:  $5.00 per person.  Proceeds benefit the Langhorne Council for the Arts student scholarship fund.  For additional information, visit www.langhornearts.org or call 215-752-0854.

Arts in the Garden Tour -- June 12
garden tour
Although the effects of the recent snowstorms are still all around us, it helps to know that the first day of Spring is only one month away!  Soon, the broken branches will be cleared away, the mud will give way to grass, gardens will be lush with blooms, and the record-breaking Winter of 2010 will be a distant memory.  With that in mind,  Langhorne Council for the Arts is beginning to plan the annual Arts in the Garden Tour.  This year's Tour will be held on Saturday, June 12 from noon - 4 PM.  Rain date is Sunday, June 13.  If you are not familiar with the event, this is a most enjoyable walking tour of public and private gardens in which local artists set up their displays and paint while local musicians provide background music.  This is LCA's major fundraiser for the year.  All proceeds go toward our scholarship fund and community arts events.

To make this event a success, we need your help!!!
·  We are currently looking for gardens to use on the Tour.  Gardens DO NOT have to be up to "Longwood Gardens" standards!  We are looking for well-tended front or back yards which we can embellish with artwork and music.  To be considered for this year's Tour, to nominate one of your neighbors for this honor, or to gain additional information, please call Pat at 215-752-0854 or email info@langhornearts.org today!  Please note:  LCA is fully insured for this event, and very little is asked of the garden owners beyond the use of the property for the day.  We're sure you will find it be a most enjoyable experience!

·  We are currently looking for artists and musicians to participate on the Tour.  No fees are charged, and participants are welcome to sell and promote their work.  Please pass this invitation on to artists and musicians in your address book!  For more information, please contact Pat (see contact info above).
