Innovation
A simple and practical way of looking at
innovation in business is that it is the conversion of ideas into cash! Three key
concepts of innovation are thinking, researching and risking! Innovation always begins with an idea, but
only becomes innovative when research is conducted and an actual change or
improvement is put to use, effectively
causing a shift in the way things were done in the past. The risk involved is the struggle to maintain
balance and continuity between the old and the new.
Why
is this important? If
you are not constantly trying to innovate in your business, you are actually
driving you and your business backwards. I am not asking you to take giant unrealistic leaps forward every day,
just small baby steps on a daily basis to improving you and your business.
The
essence of innovation is in discovering what you are
uniquely good at, what special capabilities you posses and how you can take
advantage of these capabilities to deliver services better than anyone
else's.
A
great example of an innovator is Pam Brown of White Sands Travel, a proud customer of mine! Pam was thinking
(key word here) about how she could grow her business and separate herself from
the growing competition. She acted on
her idea after coaching with me to find ways to maintain continuity in her personal
and business branding. Since then, Pam
has redesigned business cards, brochures, car door magnets, and started a social
media strategy that reflects her specialization. Her innovative brandUcoaching Inc.-based branding
and marketing ideas are not only opening doors with new customers, but Pam's
uniqueness was also recognized by Mailpound.com (an online travel industry
marketing portal) as the June agent of the month!
I
would like to share with you my personal example of innovation. It is
my re-designed site brandUcoaching.com. The site incorporates innovative and unique upgrades
that I feel keep me at the forefront of personal branding, marketing and social
media networking, while staying within my budget! I have highlighted some of these upgrades that
might help you start thinking about your own site. Website
review. First, I asked myself what did I want my
visitor to accomplish when visiting my site? My top 3 objectives were to: · Provide
information on Cory Andrichuk ABOUT · Provide
information on brandUcoaching Inc. and coaching services COACHING · Sign-up
for a FREE 30-minute Coaching Session with me FREE Then,
based on research from Google analytic's and customer feedback, I knew I had to
make it more user-friendly! I've done this by
creating a: · Clear
message with easy to read layout and navigation. · Concise
content without any redundancy. · Consistent
branding. My business card, brochures,
webinars, and workshops look the same! Finally,
I expanded my website by increasing communication in the following ways: · Learn
more about Cory Andrichuk personally from my blog. BLOG · My
value 'UP-FRONT' services. FREE · Read
my latest published articles in a condensed area. MEDIA · Read
what others are saying about me and my coaching services! TESTIMONIALS · E-coaching
