A Note About 9/11 at Trinity

As the 10th anniversary of the September 11 tragedy approaches the public discussion of that historic day may attract the attention of your children. Due to the young age of our student community, we do not intend to mark the occasion with more than a prayer at Chapel and a short history lesson for middle school classes where appropriate. Should the topic arise spontaneously we'll make use of the teachable moment by describing what happened on that day, answer student questions and provide encouragement that "God has the whole world in His hands." Rest faithfully in that belief as we work for a world that is more just, peaceful and united. Should you encounter teachable moments at home you might find this article useful.

School Pictures Next Week!
St. John Photography will be at Trinity next week to take color semi-formal portraits of your child. Pictures will be taken on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, rain or shine.

A schedule of when your child will have his/her picture taken will be communicated via backpack express and on our Web site this Friday, September 9.

All students should wear their uniforms. Deep, rich colors look best, so lower school students might consider wearing their blue or green uniform shirts or jumpers if appropriate.

Friday, September 23 will be reserved only for students who were absent for their assigned picture days. There will be no re-takes!

Inclement Weather Policy

Thoughts from Tom

(a blog from Trinity's Head of School)
Try to be "green" when you pack your lunch this year. Choose reusable food containers instead of plastic baggies and avoid pre-packaged snacks.

Remember to recycle in the yellow bins in the Dickson Dining Hall. Have a green week!

More TES Middle Schoolers Published

Last year our eighth-graders wrote "This I Believe..." essays for Mrs. Rietz' language arts class. We were notified that a few more of our young writers were published on the This I Believe web site. Click here to view our students' essays. We are so proud of our writers!

Interested in Serving in Nicaragua?

Once again Trinity will offer a WOW Week retreat to Nicaragua, February 11-18, 2012, for middle school students and their parents. As they did last year, Father Jacob Golden and Ms. Jen Rankey will co-lead the group to serve El Ayudante and the city of Leon. Students must take part in the Nicaragua Seminar in order to go on the trip. The seminar will take place during lunch and recess and may require some independent reading and research. Applications, found on the Web site and at the Front Desk, are due October 14. Spots are limited to 20 students, so get your applications in quickly.
