The Interfaith Union is a resource center for people who are dating or intermarried of all religious traditions - Christian, Jewish, Muslim and others - which provides educational support, mentoring, community and the celebration of sacred rites.

Our mission is one of compassion, understanding and acceptance of all and consideration and recognition that each person's spiritual journey is unique and to be respected.

Congratulations to our recent First Communicants from the Union School/Mt. Prospect. We are grateful to Father Bernie and Rabbi Misha for their guidance and participation and to Kate Kinser for her preparation of the children.  It was a beautiful celebration, held at St. Raymond's on Sunday April 19th.

We are delighted to report that we have been granted 501 (c) 3 status by the federal government. You are now able to deduct your donation as a charitable contribution.

A special thank you to all who have made a donation this year!

Welcome to May - a month of Moms, and Mary and Grandma's and Aunts and Sisters and Wives and Girlfriends and all those that act to hold and support us in a loving

embrace! We wish you a month of delight and love and look forward to seeing you at an upcoming meeting - of which there are many (4, in fact!)
THE UNDER 5's

This month, due to the abundance of Sunday's, there are two sessions of the Under 5's at EACH site in the suburbs.

Mt Prospect:  On Sunday, May 3rd, The Union School Under 5's in Mt. Prospect will welcome Jerry Kellman who graciously changed his date to welcome our March speaker. He will revisit the meaning of Passover and how it relates to Easter. On Sunday May 31st. the program will host Rabbi Jodi Kornfeld from Congregation Beth Chaverim in Deerfield.  Please join us!

Evanston: The Union School at St. A's will also host two sessions: on Sunday May 3rd, Kate Kinser, our Director of Sacramental Preparation will join us in a discussion regarding "How we feel when our child expresses himself from our partner's tradition - or did my heart just stop?"  Again, on May 17st, we welcome to Evanston Rabbi Kornfield, who will speak on Humanistic Judaism.  We hope to see you there!

Because of Memorial Day Holiday, there will be NO City Under 5's and we invite you to join us at one of the other four meetings. Each is held at 10:45am - 11:45am.

DO YOU KNOW A MOHEL?
Do you know a mohel who works with interfaith couples?
If you do, would you send us their name and number?  Our list is growing shorter as many of
our colleagues have retired or moved out of the area.
  Write to eileen@theinterfaithunion.org
if you have information you would be willing to share. Thanks!
