Hi Everyone,

I had the opportunity today to take a class from a new teacher, in a style I hadn't practiced before. What a joy to invite my body to move in new ways, and to focus my brain so pleasantly on the task of doing so. The mind's natural curiosity expanded, and I found myself entering into a spirit of inquisitive playfulness. It is so easy to go through the daily routine, choosing over and over the same habitual things, spiraling deeper into what Yoga terms our samskaras - ingrained patterns of thought, behavior, and action. Yet at the same time it is also easy to take the opportunities life presents to us of hummingbirdtrying something new, inhabiting the beginners mind, and stretching out of our usual ways. If we look at our samskaras as psychological callouses, moving beyond them brings us into tender areas - we may feel uncomfortably vulnerable. Think of a baby learning to walk -  if she didn't let herself be vulnerable, didn't ever let herself wobble or get off balance, she would never develop the strength to walk at all. But she does. We all did it, in fact, and not so long ago in the big scheme of things. Don't be afraid to wobble. Let's not worry about the way other people will look at us when we stretch out and try. What would you rather say at the end of the day: I did the same old same old? or... I tried something new. With a childlike grin.

The Gustatory Sense is our sense of taste. In addition to diving into the other senses, we will use food to become attuned taste and how our mouth caorangen be a key focal point in asana practice.

Yoga Gustais 'multimedia yoga' where we playfully explore our detection systems (hearing, vision, smell, taste, touch) with the purpose of understanding, rather than simply seeking entertainment or stimulation.

Donna Farhi is one of the world's most renowned, international teachers of Yoga alive today. Charlott
Charlotte Belle Bell is one of our community's most respected, long-term teachers of Yoga, with a monthly column in the Catalyst, and a beautiful book of her own, Mindful Yoga, Mindful Life.  Charlotte has co-taught teacher trainings with Donna Farhi, and has a deep familiarity with Farhi's approach, including the Seven Moving Principles. We are pleased to welcome Charlotte's presentation of these principles on February 26, 1-5pm. Space will be extremely limited, since this is part of our ongoing teacher training, so register early at the studio to reserve your spot.

This year our fundraising goal is $5000, and we're offering fabulous prizes as an extra incentive to get involved: Raise over $250 you will receive a

of every month, our 4:00 Restorative class will be free for cancer survivors, their family and supporters. Donations will be accepted to support the efforts of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network.
