Living Joyfully: Rebuilding the Inner Sanctuary
|
| Hi Everyone,
I'm really looking forward to our retreat this coming weekend at Wolf Creek Ranch. In some ways, retreats are like our regular Yoga practice, but their magic works on a deeper level and a larger scale: they allow us time for ourselves, time to stoke the inner fire, and time to transcend our ordinary habits of daily routine, movement and thought. In addition to taking us away from our usual preoccupations, retreats also offer the added benefit of companionship with the other members of the group who are also seeking the same things. Unlike a regular yoga practice, a retreat offers an opportunity to spend quality time with our fellow Yogis, to get to know them, to benefit from their insights and learn from their obstacles.
The beginning of Fall seems especially appropriate for the kind of work, practice, and healing that we will be approaching on this retreat. Our theme is "Rebuilding the Inner Sanctuary." As the energy of the planet (at least in our hemisphere) begins to slow and grow cooler, our outer resources of energy and warmth begin to diminish. We close our windows, turn on the heat, and put extra blankets on our bed at night. Fall is time to honor these changes, and to gather our inner resources to find peace, strength, and warmth within. Like the beautiful aspen trees that shed their leaves as winter comes, we too have seasons of letting go, of paring down to what is essential in order to weather through, and bloom again come spring. This special weekend is going to be really wonderful and fun. And there is still room for one or two more to join us, so if you feel like it should be you, call me at the studio 801-410-4639 or send an email right away. There are more details about the retreat below.
Make it a wonderful week, everyone! Erin

Feldenkrais Workshop: Saturday, October 16
| |
For many of us, the sensations in the neck, shoulders and jaw are not associated with qualities of ease, freedom and lightness. These places often become the storehouse for the subtle or obvious tension we carry through the day, and for many of us, through the night in our sleep. In this workshop we will explore how though awareness and movement we can begin to discover and release the habitual holding in these areas, opening to new possibilities of freedom and movement. Imagine what it would be like if, even in traffic, even at the computer, even shoveling snow- your neck could be free, your jaw relaxed and your shoulders could rest on the ribs without slouching, without being held up. It is possible... Join us to experience how!
