Living Joyfully: Sacred Energy Arts
|
| Hi Everyone, Many of the healing arts, the martial arts, and the arts of movement (including Yoga) share an ancient, common root. Prana, Chi, and Ki are all different words for the same thing: the life force that brings energy to mind, body, and spirit. One of the reasons we feel so good after a Yoga practic e is because we move the life energy around in the body, allowing it to circulate and flow. When we don't move, not only do our muscles and bones weaken, our life energy gets blocked and stagnates, leaving some areas of the body - and some aspects of the spirit - feeling lusterless and blah. Luckily, we know that the gentle and flowing movements of Yoga aid the body, mind, and spirit in the process of awakening to life, and feeling the spirit of joy in life. And sometimes we find a teacher who can take us further in this process, opening up new energy pathways that have lain dormant, and bringing a new, brighter outlook to the mind. We are so blessed to be welcoming such a teacher to our community this week. Matthew Cohen will be arriving at the studio Friday night to introduce us to what he calls Sacred Energy Arts, a fusion of Yoga, martial arts, and healing arts. The combined result is a fluid way of moving that activates the Chi (or Ki, or prana) and gets it flowing peacefully, and with deep energy. Matthew truly is a master teacher, in the best sense of the word. He is clear, humble, kind, and attuned to his students. He brings a sense of humor and a sense of play to his teaching. Practitioners of all levels can benefit from the workshops he will be leading. So don't be shy, and don't miss out on the chance to enhance your practice and learn from this world renowned teacher. Plan to come and experience all the benefits of the combined power of the Sacred Energy Arts.

Feldenkrais Workshop: Saturday, October 16
|
|
For many of us, the sensations in the
neck, shoulders and jaw
are not associated with qualities of ease,
freedom and lightness. These places often become
the storehouse for the subtle or obvious tension
we carry through the day, and for many of us,
through the night in our sleep. In this workshop
we will explore how though awareness and
movement we can begin to discover and release
the habitual holding in these areas, opening to
new possibilities of freedom and movement.
Imagine what it would be like if, even in
traffic, even at the computer, even shoveling
snow- your neck could be
free, your jaw relaxed and your shoulders could
rest on the ribs without slouching, without
being held up. It is possible... Join us to experience how!
