Living Joyfully: Sapere aude
|
| Hi Everyone, This week I've been reading The Anatomy of the Spirit by Caroline Myss, a fascinating book! One of the aims of the book is to help readers develop their intuition, specifically in order to be able to diagnose what is going wrong with them, either physically or emotionally. It is about learning to read energy, and according to Myss, we all have this ability. The events of our lives, good, bad, and indifferent, leave impressions in our energetic field, as well as on and in our physical bodies. Developing our intuition lets us "read" this energy. In Yoga terms, this is "seeing" with the third eye, the ajna chakra. Interestingly enough, Myss attributes a kind of sentience to our electromagnetic field: it wants to be read. The part of us that wants to be healthy is sending out messages all the time. The rub is, do we dare to read them? This really resonates with something Peter said during his workshop last month. He said, "you will never cure yourself from the part of you that is sick." The part of all of us that is sick only knows how to be sick. And often, this sick part plays a loud and fussy role in our lives! Otherwise, we would all be transforming our lives for the better at a much faster pace. The good news is, there is a big, energetic part of each of us that wants to live vibrantly, live joyfully - that wants to be fully alive and fully healthy. And our intuitive sense can connect with that part of ourselves if we take the time to slow down and listen. This week, I'm dedicating my personal practice to this endeavor. Maybe you will too? Namaste, Erin

The Art of Dynamic Sitting: Feldenkrais August 21, 2-5 pm
|
| The Art of
Dynamic Sitting
Sat.
Aug.21, 2-5pm
In our culture we often spend more time
sitting than we would like - whether it is in chairs, behind computers, in a
car, eating dinner - sitting is simply a part of our lives. In this workshop we
will explore how to keep sitting from becoming either collapsing into a slouch
or an effortful exhausting upright posture. We will explore sitting as a dynamic
play of balance, breath and skeletal alignment. Whether sitting at your desk,
sitting to play a musical instrument, sitting on a mediation cushion or on the
floor, this workshop will help to reawaken awareness of the skeleton on which we
can rest effortlessly while sitting. Imagine the possibility of actually
feeling better
when you get up from
time at your desk...

Change The Way you Age
A new
series for Monday nights Drop-in to any or attend them all

Sept.13-Nov.1,
5:30-7pm
Do we stop moving because we get old or do we get old
because we stop moving? Or because we do keep moving but with no refinement -
perhaps attempting to "combat" the signs of aging by pushing harder, forcing our
way through the pain?
We are delighted to offer a series of lessons
exploring movement and its relationship to how we experience age and our level
of vitality. Join us for one or all of the
Awareness Through Movement lessons we'll be
exploring in this dynamic series.
$15 drop in per class $100
if you register for the entire
series, and just $90 if you preregister for the
series by Aug. 31st.
