Living Joyfully
|
| Hi Everyone,The impulse to know, to understand, is an incredibly strong one, and indulging this impulse takes us down new paths of discovery, both in the fields of science and invention, and in our own daily lives as we seek to explore the mysteries that confront our understanding. As Aristotle noted, human beings delight in learning! And how wonderful it is that as our thoughts take us both outward into the vast universe, and inward through the intricacies of our own bodies and minds, we find an endless playing field of exploration and discovery.
At the same time, however, this wondrous impulse can trip us up. For with it can come a spirit of impatience. I want to know and I want to know now! Why is this opportunity present (or passing me by)? why did this person come into (or leave) my life? What am I supposed to do (or not do) with this insight? Despite our desire to know, the answers don't always fall neatly into our laps. And even if they did, such answers always fail to satisfy us because they are too simple, too neat. In fact, the word answer comes from a root meaning, to swear against, to end. So this week, instead of being so hasty for answers, or mourning my thwarted impulse to know, I have been meditating on acceptance. Of course, the curiosity is still there, thank goodness! Beautiful, mysterious life is still there no matter how I decide to approach it. But coming to a curious situation with a spirit of acceptance allows the questions to grow quieter, the mind to grow more observant, and the process of realization to unfold more organically, more slowly. Acceptance lets us savor the moment, being present to it in all its untold possibility. Namaste, Erin

Patricia Wickman RYT, CAP, CPT started practicing yoga in 1993. She was
initially attracted to yoga for fitness and body sculpting, but gradually
awakened to the profound emotional, psychological and spiritual effects of
regular yoga practice. Her interest deepened after she had her first child and
noticed that connecting with her breath throughout the day improved her
mothering and helped relieve stress. She completed her Yoga Alliance teacher
training in 2006 at Soma Yoga Studio in Salt Lake City under the guidance of Peter Francyk and Erin Geesaman Rabke. She studied Ayurvedic Medicine from
2006-2009 at Kanyakumari in Milwaukee with Patricia Layton. She is certified as
an Ayurvedic Practitioner and as a Panchakarma Technician. Patricia lives in
Eau Claire, Wisconsin with her husband and two kids. She owns Radiant Living
Yoga and Ayurveda. Please visit her website at rlyaa.com.

Pranayama & Meditation with Peter Francyk
|
| Special Guest Teacher, Great Class
By popular demand, Peter has graciously agreed to teach for one more month before returning to India. Thank you Peter!!!!
Explore the connection between mind, body and breath by learning the ancient arts of pranayama and meditation. Through pranayama, we
learn to use the breath to direct life energy through
the body and through all layers of our being. It is the gateway to
meditation, which takes us deeper into the synergy of mind, body, spirit, and universe. This
relaxing and informative class will enhance your ability to tune into this connection, and
add depth to your practice of all other limbs of Yoga.
Class meets Wednesdays, 7:15-8:30 pm through August. No need to preregister: just drop in!
