Living Joyfully: The Sea Star
|
| The Story of the Sea Star Just before dawn, a young man was walking down a deserted beach. In the distance, he saw a frail old man. As he approached the old man, he saw him picking up a sea star that had been stranded on the beach and throwing it back into the sea. The young man gazed in wonder as the old man again and again picked up a small sea star from the sand on the beach and threw it into the water.
Finally, he asked, Old man, why do you spend so much energy doing what seems to be a waste of time? The old man explained that the stranded sea star would die if left out on the beach in the morning sun. But there must be thousands of beaches and millions of sea stars!, exclaimed the young man. How can you make any difference? The old man looked down at the small sea star in his hand and as he threw it to the safety of the sea, he said, 'I make a difference to this one.'
Have a great week everyone. Trust that you are making a difference with the good work you do. Namaste, Erin |

Attention, Intention, and Action
|
| How do we build a Yoga practice that is both spontaneous and relaxing? A
practice that serves the deepest part of ourselves while reflecting the
immediacy of our present situation? Join Peter Francyk to explore the
intricate dance of breath, mind, and body, and learn to move from a
deeper place in your practice. There is no attention without breath, no
intention without engagement of mind; spontaneous right action flows
from the harnessing of the two. This two day workshop will focus on the
subtle aspects of finding a flow, combining pranayama, asana, and deep
mindfulness. Don't miss it!Saturday July 24, 1-5 pm Sunday

Sustainable Core Strength: A Feldenkrais Workshop with Erin & Carl Rabke
Saturday July 17, 2-5pm
Abdominal crunches and sit-ups are an
often overused and potentially unsafe form of core exercise, not to
mention boring! People think doing hundreds of these will get them a
flat stomach. In fact, it has been shown that this type of exercise is
not as efficient as other means to work the famous abdominals, or as Yvan Joly says "the abominables."
In
this workshop we will:
- Dispel common myths about six-pack abs
and a strong core
- Learn how to cultivate non-rigid
strength in our center
- Enhance free abdominal breathing
- Develop support for back, hips and
pelvis
- Discover that a held core
is not an optimally strong core, and learn how relaxed flexibility can
improve function
