Living Joyfully: Milestones
|
|
Hi Everyone!
The beautiful cool weather encourages us to connect to our inner fire - through our Yoga, we can glow brightly from within, bringing light and warmth to these darker days and longer nights. As the season turns, and the nights lengthen, we have an opportunity to take stock of ourselves and our life's journey. Where were you a year ago? Was a year ago much different from now? Would you like it to be?
Two years ago I was in rough shape, just back from the ER and recovering from an accident on my scooter that took place Nov 1, 2007. Since that time, I have made huge changes in my life. I've learned to slow down, to put my precious time into things that truly are precious, and let much of the rest go. I've learned to rely more on my friends, instead of trying to be superwoman. I've learned to put trust in the Yoga community, because Yoga has a way of bringing out the best in all of us.
We don't need to experience a personal catastrophe in order to reflect on our lives and make changes. That opportunity is always there. What is needed is making a commitment to ourselves - really, to our highest selves. How do you feel about who you are when you make time to practice?
In the Yoga tradition, tapas - literally heat - signifies the self-exertion and self-sacrifice needed to illuminate the highest self. This week, let's emphasize that inner fire in our practice, dedicating time on the mat to burning away the things that hold us back, lighting up the way to a present and future of full of vitality and joy. Now that's a journey worth making!
Thank you for choosing to practice here at Avenues Yoga. I know I can speak for all of the instructors when I say, we're glad you're sharing part of your journey with us. Namaste, Erin

Yamuna Body Rolling
|
|
Named after its inventor, Yamuna Zake, Yamuna Body Rolling is a unique system providing
health, fitness and massage-all rolled into one. YBR
reeducates muscles and stimulates bones creating positive and permanent
changes in the body. Lying on the ball, you literally roll your body
out almost like dough, stretching and elongating your muscles. The YBR
routines follow specific sequences that match the body's own logic and
order. Starting where each muscle begins at its origin, you roll toward
where it attaches to its point of insertion.
In the Introductory Workshop on 11/7 you w ill learn how to use the Yamuna Body Rolling balls to work specific muscles in detail, creating suppleness in tight areas and optimizing your range of motion. Best of all, you'll know how to practice these techniques on your own. A second workshop will be held after the new year to take the practice deeper and explore other areas of the body.
Instructor Nathalie Chanut is the only Yamuna Body Rolling Instructor in the area - aren't we lucky she's here? Visit Nathalie's studio website to learn more by clicking here.
Introductory Workshop November 7, 3-6 pm Cost: $120
Register at the Studio. Cost includes equipment: (a green ball & foot-waker) and handouts reviewing the techniques covered in the workshop.
